Fullerton, California — The Fullerton Police Department released video from a May shooting by officers that left a 34-year-old Hector Hernandez dead. According to the Fullerton Police Department, officers were called out for a family disturbance in the 3600 block of West Avenue on May 27 at approximately 10 p.m. after a 15-year-old reported that his step-father was intoxicated and threatening family members with a knife. Ferrell was the first to arrive on the scene, along with his K9 partner, Rotar. Three minutes later, Hernandez walked out of his front door. He is seen with his arms up as police approach him with guns drawn. He did not appear to be holding a weapon. Officers deployed a K9 unit. District Attorney’s officials said Hernandez also made a stabbing motion at Ferrell before plunging a blade into the animal’s shoulder. The corporal shot Hernandez once, then yelled “he’s got a knife” before firing one more round, according to the report. Officer then shot Hernandez, who later died at an area hospital.

  1. I find it difficult to watch these videos where 911 operators and cops just have no psychological education. The interrogation 911 ops put people through is outrageous. I was a child once when I called 911 to report a crime, and the moron put me through interrogation to the point I got confused, more scared, and started laughing nervously, hence she hung up on me because she thought I was pranking her.

Understand fear. Understand that not everyone is good at speaking to people, especially when terrified. Some of us are writers, not orators. We don't know how to spell things out to ops or cops in a way they find satisfying.

  2. I could never be a cop, these guys see some crazy shit, I can't imagine the horror I would feel stopping somebody at night on a road with no traffic.

  3. The dispatcher was asking all the questions on the script. The book has 50 pages. Cops shot the man and hasn’t moved in 2 days… “show me your hands!!!!”

  4. The cops did not try to peacefully fix the situation. This was murder. Kill hungry american police. I am starting to understand why there are sovereign citizens, and many other us citizens that protest against the road robbery by police, and the use of deadly force by guns. In Europe, there is police school for 3 years, and one year as Learning police out in the streets, before they become regular police officers. And they learn to not use deadly force. Thats why the police are much more friendly, and almost never kill ordinary citizens breaking the law.

  5. "DA says no charges warranted against Fullerton officer who shot man to death during confrontation that involved police K9"
Even though you can clearly see that he walked up and plainly shot this victim twice, and its on camera.
Howwaaa bout… you let a jury decide.

  6. walks out of the house with hands raised
"Get down on the ground !!"
    Dog attacks him
So he's on the ground now…
cop walks up and shoots him two times anyway.
