Tustin, California — Newly released body camera footage released by Tustin police sheds new light on the fatal police shooting of a homeless man near a mobile home park. Video shows officers use a Taser before shooting Luis Manual Garcia on Aug. 9 after he jumped out of a bush holding a 4-foot wooden pole. Garcia’s family said that the father of three was dealing with mental illness at the time, but refused their help. Estella Silva is the officer who fired the fatal rounds, and all the officers involved in the shooting are still out in the field. Garcia’s family has filed a claim for damages against the city in the names of his 12-year-old and 18-year-old daughters. Rosalia Becerra, Garcia’s former partner of about 15 years, said she wants to see Silva punished for the shooting.

  1. Meanwhile kyles prosecuting attorneys are saying nobody can hurt you with a skateboard so he’s a murderer for defending himself.

  2. This cop was unprofessional and combative from the drop. I feel like these shots were unwarranted and it could have been avoided with a little more compassion. Obviously im not seeing what she is but not a good look for her. As always thanks for showing good and bad police interactions it’s usually much more of the former but idk ab this one.

  3. "Relenting to the party's endless coercion, the man climbs out of the bush. He is dressed plainly, and is holding a long stick and bag o-"
"Wait, you said he has a stick?"
    "Uh, yeah?"
"Okay, I attack him with my taser. Non-lethally."
*sigh* "Go ahead. He's within 5 feet; disadvantage."
    "That's a 15, and a… 12."
    "That hits."
    "4 lightning damage."
*hands buried in face* "Alright, you've successfully electrified the mysterious bush-man. Roll for initiative."

  4. the family didnt care enough to do anything about him being homeless but cares enough to try to get a paycheck from this…

  5. Hopes she’s never allowed in a uniform again. You can tell in the first 30 seconds she’s a terrible cop

  6. Why do you insist on including "female" in the title when it's a female cop but never "male" when it's a male cop? What's the double standard all about?

  7. You all want Female cops.. Unfortunately they are constantly over reacting in my opinion… This was a clear case of it… Especially when the male officer tasered the guy and she blew his head off.. The guy was running away when he died… He didnt want to hurt them…

  8. The guy just kept asking why do they want to take him. It be easier in many many many situations if damn cops just stated the law they are breaking but nahhh "I'll tell you in a minute " is the most common response. Cops like these dont need to be anywhere near a badge or a gun

  9. Female cops bro. I see it time and time again, either they’re useless and don’t fire back, or they get spooked and kill someone. Nothing against em, but like cmon.

  10. Cops that are afraid of a wooden stick… So they shoot? Fucking pathetic…. they are in the wrong profession!.

  11. a quema ropa un a un hombre desarmado. horrible. y adonde esta el cuchillo de carnicero ???? no tenia nada. era un hombre ganandose la vida con basura

  12. The family is suing of course. How about you punish the guy for coming out with something in his hands instead of using his better judgement?

  13. "Garcia’s family has filed a claim for damages against the city in the names of his 12-year-old and 18-year-old daughters. Rosalia Becerra, Garcia’s former partner of about 15 years, said she wants to see Silva punished for the shooting."

They were happy to let him live on the street like a dog.

    They're looking for a payday.

  14. The guy was suspected to be mentally unstable and armed with a giant knife. The officer told him multiple times to come out with his hands up. Instead, he emerges from the bushed with a large stick and you can't see his other hand. Officers protected themselves. I don't see the culpability. Just a bad situation. The family should be apologizing for sicking this lunatic on the public and the officers instead of trying to sue the city and destroy an officer's life.

  15. Yeah I normally love these videos but this one bothers me quite a bit…really don’t agree with how this situation was handled and I’m a little enraged by this cops premature decision to kill this guy. Not saying he’s innocent but he deserved the opportunity to live.
