DWI Suspect Kills Rapper “Wake Self” in Crash

@Fire And Police Videos obtained lapel footage of Santa Fe Police Department Officers responding to a motor vehicle crash with injuries on November 3rd, 2019.

When officers arrived there were two vehicles involved. A truck is seen laying upside down and a sedan is seen crushed beyond recognition. Two occupants were ejected from the involved vehicles.

Witnesses told police they saw a truck going the “wrong way” and saw the speeding truck “pop up”. Evidence speed tests by SFPD indicates the truck was going at least 60MPH.

The driver of the truck, later identified as 24-year-old Diego Pichardo, was thrown from his truck behind a concrete pillar. Police noticed a strong order of alcohol while emergency crews worked on him.

Rapper “Wake Self” who’s legal name is Andrew Martinez and his friend Kevin Allende were in the silver sedan. Andrew Martinez had extensive injuries to his whole body and was transported to University of New Mexico trauma Hospital where he died a few days later from his crash related injuries. Allende his passenger also had massive trauma but survived the crash.

Rapper “Wake Self” is credited with developing the Albuquerque rap scene. He had just released new music prior to his death. His death sent shock waves throughout the community and music industry.

Picahardo was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico for his injuries. Police obtained a search warrant to draw blood from Picahardo. Pichardo had prior DWIs in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Pichardo told an officer at the hospital he smells of alcohol because he works “in the industry”. He admitted that he blew into a portable breath tester earlier that night.

Pichardo was issued a warrant for vehicular homicide by motor vehicle. A few days later Santa Fe Police went to his place of residence to arrest Pichardo. Police were met by family members who were trying to prevent entry into the home. Pichardo shows no remorse as the warrant is explained. Santa Fe Police are shown being extremely accommodating to his crash related injuries. They took him to a local hospital to be medically cleared for jail. Upon leaving the police station a group of female family members ask questions of police.

Pichardo was booked into Santa Fe County jail he was charged with 66-8-101(A)&(C) Homicide by vehicle (DWI) 66-8-101(B) & 66-8-1 Great Bodily Harm by Vehicle (Driving While Under Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Any Drug) and 66-8-102(A) DWI Driving While Under the Influence of Liquor (Impairment) 66-8-113 Reckless Driving and 66-5-39.1(B) Driving While License Revoked – DWI Related. 1. If that family had one Oz of manners. They'd of put that,or them dogs in a different room. So they could have all spoken and heard clearly. What's up with people and NO RESPECT

  2. These people couldn't put them puppies away? 🙄 😵‍💫😩😫 (and yes I'm very sorry for everyone involved especially the person who passed away.) One stupid decision made this huge fatal, life changing action. I pray that the families find peace. 🫂🙏🏻🥺

  3. 48:06 Translation”don’t tell them anything. Don’t tell them anything. Tell them that your not gonna talk. Don’t sign anything if you don’t want to” this part made me sick. This isn’t the words you say to a man who is innocent. He’s wasn’t the only one in a wheel chair. He out of all the victims got away with the least injuries let alone his damn life! This family isn’t the one most affected in this accident. Andrew had a great family and a gf who all loved him. And many friends and people all around the U.S who cared about him very much. My own brother barley made it out alive. They were just tryna post some posters up for his event at meow wolf for his “ready to live” album. He chose to drive drunk and effect all the lives of the victims and the victims families. He is the cause of this. Although he suffered the least injuries. He’s going to suffer the most serving 18 years in jail. Rest I’m Peace WakeSelf. And thank you god for saving my brother that day. I’ve done so much with him in the past 3 years since this accident and I can’t imagine where I’d be if he was taken that day. That’s all I have to say…WakeSelf Forever 🙏

  4. These type of people deserve the maximum sentence. No sympathy for drunk drivers. It is SO easy to avoid! Especially nowadays!!!!

  5. This spoiled little turd got 18 years for this and he's gotta serve at least 85% consecutive to the 7 months he got for the DWI, his 2nd. I'm glad his trash family and lawyer's actions backfired big time!! 😂

  6. “We’re just asking because he’s in pain” …………..His VICTIM is DEAD!!! He deserves to be in pain. I personally hope it reminds him of the life he took, cuz sitting comfy on a couch sure a s**t wasn’t.

  7. A que dieguito pichardo en la muleta que se metio el pendejo como decia mi padre al fresco bote por puñetas😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

  8. Tell that’s dog stfu, and he ain’t even show no remorse. Idk if he was just embarrassed bc he knew what happened & im sure he was gettin big backlash from his community, due to him being drunk while driving & this causing the death of “wake self” someone who apparently has made an impact in their community. Smh RIP WakeSelf, may you live on and I pray your family heals and copes as best as able. And those ladies need to shut up, there’s a dead man. He caused all this to himself and another family’s son. He’s alive no one is worried any longer about him and his self inflicted injuries. Sorry NOT sorry

  9. Perhaps when Pichardo was released from prison at the age of 44,
he had enough years to reflect on the serious mistake he made in his life and learn the lesson. that's up to him.

  10. It's like they don't understand how severe the charges are and by having a lawyer he would somehow be alright. This was his like 3rd dui. No lawyer on earth is getting you out of this one dude. I'm sure he realized that pretty quick after he got 18 years for this.
