  10. Not gonna say I've ever been "pretty", but the only time I didn't get a ticket when I deserved one was when I was about 25 and rear-ended an elderly couple.

    Fortunately for me I'd worked typing up auto claims and knew I'd done fucked up — if you rear-end someone, you were following too close, speeding, or both. In my case I was following too close to anticipate their breaking at a green light, but that still meant I was following too close. A kid coulda run out in front of them at the intersection, just cuz I couldn't see it doesn't mean it couldn't have happened (that wasn't it, but still). It's all our own responsibility to stay off of other people's bumpers. I knew that and had already accepted the inevitable.

    So when the officer gets there, I'm giving them my insurance information and begging them to go to the ER to get checked out. That I knew it was my fault, that my insurance would pay for the medical exam, and I'd rather they get checked out to make sure they were okay. They're saying they're fine, but I knew that's exactly what my granny with osteoporosis would have said, and she really should have an xray after the smallest impact.

    Officer takes their report, lets them go, and hands me back my license/reg/insurance, says I'm free to go.

    Me: "Um, I'm sorry Officer, I don't see my ticket here?"

    Him: "I'm not giving you one." He was young so perhaps he was new, but he then went on to state it was the first time he'd seen the person at fault begging the other party to get checked out by the doctor and not arguing about whose fault it was, and he wasn't gonna add to my problems.

    So maybe lesson is: "Pretty is as pretty does"?

  15. @Mike The Cop at some point, you need to be cast in a buddy cop comedy movie with complete nonsense humor. That movie would make dozens of dollars. Or potentially dozens of donuts depending on how you preferred to be compensated.

I was an EMT for 12 years and I've seen how officers are treated on and off the streets and we owe you allot. Have you tried taking your message to the next level?
