Police dash camera video shows a fleeing shooting suspect narrowly dodge other cars before crashing a stolen vehicle in Grand Rapids. Theodore Little, 35, was arrested and charged with 11 felonies after the April 28 mile-long chase through the city’s West Side, which police said reached estimated speeds of 70-75 mph along Fulton Street, where the speed limit is 25 and 30 mph. Little was driving a red Mazda — allegedly stolen from a Kentwood business where he is accused of groping a woman — when police cruisers swarmed his car at a red light at Fulton Street and Monroe Avenue NW.

Dash camera video shows Little hanging his arm and head out the car as Officer Nathan Fynewever shouts commands to him. The Mazda takes off when traffic clears, colliding with a cruiser that attempted to block it. No one was injured. Fynewever catches up with the suspect during the mile-long chase. The officer’s in-car video shows the Mazda weaving in and out of traffic, passing cars in the lane for oncoming vehicles and running for red lights. The chase continues to where the road bends toward Lake Michigan Drive. Little loses control on the bend and the car begins to fishtail. He overcorrects due to an oncoming car, causing the Mazda to run up an embankment near Valley Avenue NW, the video shows.

The Mazda hits a tree and slides back down onto the sidewalk. No other vehicles were hit in the process. Before he was put in handcuffs, Little tossed a cell phone and pistol out the car window. Police said he did not threaten officers with the weapon. He’s accused of shooting his girlfriend, 27-year-old Daphanie Joiner, at a Mason Street NE apartment the morning of April 28. She was expected to recover from the wound to her neck. About 30 minutes before the chase, Little allegedly held up Specialized Staffing Solutions, 3128 28th St. SE, in Kentwood. Police said he ordered two female workers into separate rooms, forcing one to disrobe and fondling the other. He is charged with attempted murder, fleeing and eluding police, carrying a concealed weapon, three counts of felony firearm, possession of weapon by a felon, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, armed robbery and unlawful imprisonment. He is charged as a fourth-time habitual offender.

  1. There should be designated siren silencers at events like this. When there are 11 more cops than are necessary, someone goes car to car to turn the fuking sirens off

  2. " He is charged with attempted murder, fleeing and eluding police, carrying a concealed weapon, three counts of felony firearm, possession of weapon by a felon, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, armed robbery and unlawful imprisonment. He is charged as a fourth-time habitual offender." Mannnnnn it really took me a while to finish reading the charges.

  3. Those poor women at the staffing business. How do you ever get over that? He's a one man crime spree and enemy of women everywhere. Thank God the girlfriend survived but what kind of woman dates a man like this? He is someone that needs to be locked up for a very very very long time. Wonder what the sentence is for a 4th time loser.

  4. i thought it was interesting how he threw out his gun, got out with his hands up, kind of went around in a circle and laid out right where his gun was. i dont know if it was just a coincidence, but its good thing that cop kicked it away.
