A man attempted to jump off the Missouri River Bridge on northbound I-635. Riverside police reported to the scene just after 10 p.m. Monday. After arriving, a police officer discovered a man standing between the car and the bridge wall. Police attempted to communicate with the man for several minutes. While the officer was attempting to speak with him, he placed his hands on the bridge and looked over the bridge. The officer on scene called for additional officers. Once the man moved closer to the bridge, officers grabbed and removed him from the edge of the bridge. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. He is receiving medical treatment.

  1. Another reason why pigs shouldn't respond to mental health calls the way they dragged him and threw him to the ground and cuffed him is outrageous and wrong

  2. I admire the heroic efforts of the law enforcement officers, however I do think that they went overboard with the excessive use of force. There were 3 officers against (figuratively) one civilian. Definitely thank you for saving his life. But all the force that was used was more than was necessary.

  3. God bless that officer who was sitting and talking to him and said We're going to get through this while rubbing his back.

  4. i feel terrible for people who feel the need to kill themselves! but theres so many things you can do to help yourself take the help and dont be greedy by killing yourself! you're hurting more than just yourself…

  5. This is what the media would prefer you don't see so they can keep us divided and at odds with each other while those who own and control the media get richer off of our sweat and blood.

  6. So that guy did want to end his life they didnt let him handcuff him and its fuckin illegal aswell?! You kidding me

  7. So for not killing himself, he gets pinned to the ground like an animal and cuffed like a murderer.
He should've jumped off.. I know I'd get seriously depressed just being handled in such a demeaning way in general. No wonder people fight back.

  8. Here's my opinion. Don't hate me.

I have been suffering from severe depression and anxiety for well over 4 years now. I am suicidal. I'm at the point where I feel like nobody cares. If someone does try and cheer me up (even though I hide my problems), I feel like it's just an act. That they're doing it to look like a good person. Now again, this is my opinion: they should've let him jump. If they're that fucked up that suicide seems the only way out, let them do it. Hell, I wouldn't let someone stop me. If they want to go, let them. There's a reason they want to.

A good friend once told me that once you hit rock bottom, the only way is up. Well, the rope was never lowered for me, and now I'm buried in sadness.

  9. Don't want to get too cheesy here but that's pure brotherly love right there. How many of us would hug a total stranger and sit down to listen to his problems, not to mention, save his life?

  10. Cops do have a heart as well as other humans it's just that some are more caring than others but it is like that with the human race,

  11. many cops are or know vets and suicide has killed more vets than the battlefield.
They reacted this way because it hits home and the lack of humanity that occurs through a UNIform was breached and they were human for a moment.
They still are Cylons, just seeking God.
Pray for anyone wearing a uniform that they may be human again.

  12. Arlington Texas Police officers saved my nephew's life. He jumped but it wasn't for lack of trying. Also Irving Texas Police officers helped me year's before by giving me a break when I was going through a nasty divorce. And couldn't afford to get inspection sticker and tags.
