Corrections Officer turned Reality Star Caught Sneaking Meth into Jail

@CopsConsTV obtained lapel footage of Santa Fe County, New Mexico deputies investigating and arresting a corrections officer for bringing meth into the facility. Lt. Cohen Mangin was seen on footage dropping a bag of meth on the grounds. The incident happened early in November of 2019.

Before Mangin was accused of carrying around a bag of meth on the job, he was first thrust into the spotlight as a rookie on the A&E show Behind Bars: Rookie Year.

The show highlights corrections officer recruits who are in training or working at the Penitentiary of New Mexico.

Mangin admitted bringing meth to work. An officer found a bag of meth near the main entrance.

According to a report, surveillance video showed Mangin drop it. At first, Mangin denied knowing anything, but when investigators said he was caught on camera, Mangin changed his story saying he used it during his break to stay awake.

Mangin was charged with possession of a controlled substance and bringing contraband into a jail. Those charges were dismissed without prejudice early in January of 2020.

  1. I feel like one thing happened here . Mangin cohen was threatened . His life and family. He didn’t know what to do I would’ve just quit but at that point it’s too late . Working damn near 2 weeks str8 long hours took a toll on him . He was spiraling …. Aaaand that my friends is what did not ! Happen ! 😑

  2. I personally don’t believe him I think the two of them were trafficking. He knows that the charges for trafficking is much harsher than a first time charge for personal use.

  3. Some law enforcement personnel that I’ve been involved with are definitely members of a clique. They go out of their way to protect one of their own. Regular citizens don’t stand a chance when under arrest by these particular officers. I’ve also known officers who were very respectful of their elevated status and work diligently to prevent their actions from causing harm to the public. It’s a very dangerous profession, and often times the only people that can be trusted are fellow officers. That’s certainly not the whole story, but I tend to support my local police, and I try to sympathize with the challenges they face and the goals they are trying to achieve. Most officers I’ve had contact with are respectable people trying to make a positive impact on the community. But, the bad apples can spoil the entire barrel, unfortunately. Also, I’ve never been in trouble for something that I was innocent of. If they are a bit sneaky in their methods, then so be it, since I was also attempting to get away with something I knew was wrong.

  4. Dude!!! He gave the phone to inmate. I knew he was shady!!!! You saw him give the phone on A&E! For sure selling drugs right? They should drug test him. I bet clean.

  5. I didn't see you on the news i saw it on google and utube and pretty much its gone viral since 2019 as in world wide and if he was actually just using a upper to stay awake well seriously though why would you try to bring it inside a prison especially a guard,i would have to think that it would be pretty uncomfortable for him to end up in jail, but what did he say 9 years and working many hours and looking after 3 kids? I think that maybe there would be another way.

  6. Pay people with the responsibility that prison guards have peanut salaries you can expect them to attempt and achieve making extra cash via other means both legal and illegal. Cops are the same with some states cops earn low salaries so many will boost the salary via other means.

  7. Dude copped to using, to deflect away from trafficking drugs in prisons. Wonder how inmates are able to score drugs? Now you know. Doesn't matter anyway, daddy got all his charges dropped. I miss a child support payment, I go to prison for a year without a hearing. This dude was a LT. in police force and caught on video dealing in prisons and gets nothing.
