The Mt. Healthy Police Department says its officers showed restraint during in an incident in which a suspect allegedly pointed a fake gun at them.

Police responded to a house on Adams Rd. near Hickman St. around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate an assault complaint.

Court documents show Christopher Laugle, 26, pointed the gun at officers which was originally on a coffee table inside the home. Laugle allegedly resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody.

It wasn’t until after Laugle was arrested that police realized the gun was fake, according to the incident report.

Laugle is in the Hamilton County Detention Center awaiting trial.

  1. He’s not resisting he’s just not listening or doing anything you say and wants to show you how clean the barrel of his gu- I mean toy gun is

  2. Well, ask Tamir Rice how the police handled the situation with him! Ohh that's right the police killed him after just seconds of arriving on the scene. To bad they couldn't get his side of the story, because I'm sure he would've told them it's a toy gun, but at least you got the chance to speak out! R.I.P Tamir Rice.

  3. Everyone on both sides act differently. the guy was said to have pointed a gun, but the second the officer asked is that a gun, the guy said no, it's fake, as did someone else. cops cant tell that but the guy didn't seem hostile and the cops really weren't concerned at first either. It's all on individuals and interpretation. I got a knock on the door a 2AM on April 19th 2016. We were celebrating me getting a new job and better pay. I approached the door with my handgun. I pulled back my front door blinds and there was two cops, I was pointing my pistol as I peaked out. They shouted GUN and told me to drop it, I stepped back from the door and said ABSOLUTELY NOT! I asked them what they wanted. They told me to get out of my house. I said NOPE! what do you want! They said we just want to talk, and to drop the weapon, I said no I'll put it back where I got it (I stuck it in a DVD rack next to my roommate). I opened the front door, but not the screen door and said what are you doing here. They opened the door and came in and grabbed me took me out on the porch and slammed me to the wall a searched me. My other roommate who heard what was going on turned the cameras on and armed himself and stayed on the stair case. They asked loudly WHAT ARE YOU DOING ANSWERING THE DOOR WITH A GUN! I answered WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING KNOCKING ON MY DOOR AND DRAGGING ME OUT OF MY HOUSE AT 2AM!? What am I suspected of and where's your warrant!!?
come to find out someone randomly called and said someone got jumped near my address and they responded to my residence. After a moment they said we want to search the house. They got a polite but stern NO out of me. They said we dont care if you got drugs or a hooker in there we want to make sure everyone is safe. I said nope, i'll call my father and he'll decide. The cop said You need to call your daddy? I smiled and said consider "daddy" the family lawyer. He stopped talking. This was because we had been at the range that day and there was about 15 rifles in the living room we hadn't cleaned yet, and I wanted to know if they should come in or not. A cop snatched my phone out of my hand and spoke to my father then handed it back and dad said let them in. They went in and it got awkward. So the one cop accused us of being gun fanatics and the other looking at my book shelves said No I'm guessing historians. He then said you want to check the basement and I'll check up stairs? The concerned cop said No you check the house and I will watch these guys and the little arsenal from Tibet. After the house was clear they spent 1 minutes showing my different techniques to answer the door with a gun, and were the coolest guys ever. In fact the last 2 times I have had a problem and asked for an officer Brian has always been the one to come out. Cool guy, welcome anytime.
Super long story short, it's people and matter of perspective. In my opinion, in this video cops overreacted a bit to something they weren't concerned with really, and then they kind of escalated the situation after he didn't even posses it (which is why you NEVER leave your house without a cop producing a warrant) and tasered him on the ground with his hands behind his back already.

  4. Love how SOME people think cops should be able to tell between a fake pistol and a real one when they’re both black and look the exact same. Guess people think cops have super powers to know whether the gun is fake or not. You have someone point a gun at you and you have a gun. What are you gonna do?

  5. I like how he screamed like a little bitch when tased. Lucky his punk ass didn't get shot. Fuck that bitch screaming in the background too.

  6. A black suspect was shot and killed by police within a few days of this incident. Look, I'm white and totally respect what cops do most of the time. But anyone who says there aren't vastly different systems of justice is – you know who you are.

  7. You can still commit crimes with a toy gun. Robbery and assault with a deadly (looking) weapon, since assault is defined as a reasonable apprehension of an imminent harm or battery.

  8. I was once beaten by a cop but I probably deserved it. I just wish he didn't pull his gun on me while I was holding my six-month-old daughter in my hands.

  9. Some of these toys or replicas look real. I know some are required to have an orange or red tip at the end of barrel but then that is no guarantee either. Do you ever notice in many of these videos how trashy the parents of these teens and adult children can be? Most of the time, the acorns do not fall too far from the tree. Police brutality? That woman should thank those officers for not putting a half dozen rounds in the punk's ten ring…

  10. You shouldn't have fake guns on you when police come by, it's good operational security, but it makes me question how often criminals use that tactic. of saying its fake.

  11. I see all of this stuff, but I never get to find out what (if anything) was done about it!
If they are violating your rights, why aren't you-all taking them to court and, if you do, what happens?
