The Centerville Police Department released bodycam footage that shows a man, which police say is Jacob James Myers, 30, of Centerville, assaulting a Centerville police officer in the snow-covered streets of South Main.

The officer was responding to a suspicious person call in the area of Main and Wall Streets in Centerville, which came into the Centerville Law Center at approximately 12:56 a.m. Wednesday.

Body camera footage shows the officer arriving to the scene and exiting his vehicle, where Myers began charging at the officer with an unknown weapon in his hand.

The officer deployed his taser, but Myers continued to advance towards the officer. On the video released, Myers can be heard shouting “I’m going to [obscenity] kill you, I’m going to kill you [obscenity].”

The assault continued on Main Street for nearly two minutes before the officer was able to pin Myers to the ground. During the altercation, the officer also struck Myers at least twice with a baton, according to a press release from the Centerville Police Department.

After another officer arrived on scene, the video showed several other taser deployments before officers were able to put Myers into custody.

Myers was transported to Mercy Medical Center for examination and treatment of injuries. A press release from the Centerville Police Department says he was then transported to the Appanoose County Jail, where he is being held on a cash only bond.

  1. Unfortunately, Mr. Meyers has not learned very much from this case – in June 2020 he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for attempted murder… 🙁

  2. You can see the goose pimples on the disgusting criminal's shoulder. He's cold alright. He doesn't know he's cold because, drugs.

  3. He must be possesed by demons to be waltzing in some random neighborhood in a freezing snowy night at 2 am,while shirtless and screaming jiberish.

  4. Feel most Officers would have shot him….he gave him so many chances…and only tased..funny suspect trying to run in snow…& sliding

  5. Crazy ducker is lucky to be alive. Late at night, all alone, some dude coming after you saying he's going to kill you, this after getting up after being tazed. If I was the officer I would have drawn my weapon. Again, dude is lucky to be alive.

  6. If you look up the word white privilege this video would be on display. Is there any doubt to how this would’ve ended if he were black? Nope

  7. Well he eventually was released, but arrested again in 2019 for attempted murder for shooting a guy in the head, apparently awaiting trial.

  8. My Stepdad had a saying (He grew up in the 1930's-40's as a kid to Teenager "They went crazy so the Cops had to shoot 'em"
In the old days when confronted by an INSANIAC Cops just usually shot the person.

  9. The suspect had two disadvantages:
    One: He was shirtless.
Two: He was out in the snow.
A very bad combination for him.
