Seattle, Washington State — The Seattle Police Department released video of the incident, showing a K9 team, an SPD patrol officer, and a patrol sergeant contacting the burglary suspect. The video shows the suspect, who was armed with a machete and a knife, fatally stabbing Police Dog Jedi before an officer opens fire, fatally striking the suspect. Around 2:45 PM, the resident of a home in the 2200 block of South Eddy called 911 and reported a man armed with a knife was breaking into their home. A K9 team arrived on the call, saw the suspect, and began pursuing him as he fled on foot. In the 6700 block of Swift Avenue South, a police dog engaged with the suspect. The suspect then fatally stabbed the dog and injured an officer in an ensuing struggle. Another officer arrived on scene and fired at the suspect, fatally striking him.

  3. I'm glad naked a$$wipe is dead. I don't understand why LE sends a K9 on a suicide mission, when they are armed with superior stopping firepower. They had plenty of opportunities to shoot the demon well away from other people. And why aren't K9 vests made puncture resistant, because they can be made so. Never send a K9 to his death unnecessarily, never. They're supposed to be deployed to stop fleeing perps and hold them still until their human catches up. They can't do that if the perp is armed with a deadly weapon and they use said weapon on the K9, now can they? And if the perp had had a gun? No, of course not. Same with a MACHETE. A needless waste.

  17. Dog should not have been used when a guy has a freaking machete. Bad call and it's heartbreaking. It always kills me when a dog passes, especially when it's preventable. RIP boy

    That scum should have been shot before without exposing the dog because a knife is a lethal weapon and the consequences were suffered by man's best friend. I hope it will serve as an example for future interventions with these loyal animals.😔

  22. What are they supposed to do? Shitting on officers doesn't help. Hindsight is 20/20 for one. Two he wasn't in the act of attacking someone so they couldn't shoot. Three they would've gotten trashed on in the papers if they shot too soon. U weren't there and ur not helping by crapping on them. Grow up keyboard warriors.
