Bodycam Shows Sand Springs Police Take Down Robbery Suspect

Sand Springs Police released body cam video of an officer taking down a robbery suspect. The victim told them he’d given another man a ride from a bus station last Friday, when that man threatened the victim with a gun, cut his shirt with a knife and said he was going to steal the car. The victim told police he got out of the car because he was scared and went into Spoon Drug where they called police. Police say the suspect got out of the car and came at them, refusing to stop. They say they tried to Tase him but when it didn’t work, and because they could see his hands were empty, an officer tackled him. Officers arrested Johnathan Zamudio. They said he appeared to be intoxicated.

  3. Now the cops handled that so well he could have easily been shot in that moment of uncertainty. I love the tackle!

  4. Notice how the female officer walks right into the cross fire of the other officers. If there had been a need to use deadly force, they probably would have shot each other. Good tackle but he could have killed the guy because he hit the asphalt really hard with the back of his head. You can see the blood on the video. Pepper spray or a taser would have been a good option on an unarmed slow walking guy.
