Brentwood, California — On March 12, 2023 at around 9:00 p.m., Brentwood Officers were investigating an unrelated incident in the area of Brentwood Blvd. and Sycamore Ave. when they were approached by an individual reporting a possible hostage situation at the Brentwood Garden Apartments, located in the 160 block of Sycamore Ave. This individual reported an adult female victim was being held against her will by a known male suspect armed with a handgun. 1. "Both the suspect and victim were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of the shooting, both are expected to survive." I know this is the protocol but this suspect should be dead by shooting. Doctors have bunch of patients to care about. Please do not let them help POS like this suspect… so sad.

  2. They just burst in and shoot. Lucky she didn't get shot in the torso. I've seen another video where the police shoot the hostage aswell. They will rather shoot a hostage than compromising their own safety.

  3. Spoilers in the video are so meh, wish they hadn't included the countdown to key events, as I like to think my way through a situation as it presents itself.

  4. Guy was just having a mental episode. Clearly the city should have sent a mental health expert…. 🤡

  5. Incredibly fragile situation to be called out to, great work by the officers involved and the victim wasn't harmed. Unfortunately that pos Smith is expected to survive -_-

  6. My apartment was a couple feet away from were it happend I herd the shots and everything thank you BPD for serving and protecting like how real policing should be

  7. I thought he struck the hostage since she quit screaming immediately after he shot and seen her laying there. I bet that cop had a moment of pure dread in that moment. And then the daughter hears a gunshot in the distance, probably thinking that her mom was shot.

  8. All the officers did an amazing job pushing the fight to end the hostage situation after it had gone south. It is unfortunate that the POS is going to live.

  9. I thought this was the same building where the other homeless guy was holding a homeless hostage with a knife.
Imagine cop knocking on your door again asking to use your apartment to shoot the suspect.
    😆
