Bodycam Shows Michigan Deputy Shooting Man Armed With Knife At Gas Station

Galesburg, Michigan — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office released body camera footage of an officer-involved shooting that left a Galesburg man dead early Monday morning. At approximately 2:45 am, Oct. 4, the Kalamazoo County Consolidated Dispatch Center received a 911 call from the Shell gas station on 35th street in Galesburg, Michigan. The caller advised dispatchers there was an emergency and requested the police. No other information was given. A Kalamazoo County Deputy immediately arrived on scene and was confronted by R.V. Johnson, 22 with a knife. Johnson lunged at the deputy and the deputy fired his weapon striking the suspect. Galesburg and Charleston fire/rescue arrived on scene and gave lifesaving efforts. Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medical personnel.

  3. What the hell did he think he was holding? A camera? An epee? Bruh Where the context at? Why was the dude fencing all of a sudden with an opponent that was armed with a gun?

  4. Maybe the officer needed to use a more forceful voice from the beginning. It's a pickle: a strange man has a knife in the dark, speak to him politely or turn into a roughneck and shout at him to drop it to save his life. Mom raised me to have good manners
