With the investigation still ongoing, the Steamboat Springs Police Department has released reports and video related to the death of the 22-year-old man who fled from police and later drowned in the Yampa River. Arman “Jack” Qureshi’s roommates told police that Qureshi had a serious alcohol problem that was kept secret from his parents. According to roommates, Qureshi would drink up to a 1.75 liters of vodka daily. Steamboat Springs police say he ran from officers Sunday and jumped into the river to escape them. He also wrestled himself away from an officer who tried to pull him out of the water. Qureshi was suspected of trying to steal a purse downtown. He had recently moved to Steamboat Springs to work in the information technology industry.

  1. This is actually pretty smart, but he should of stayed under till he reached a safe distance, alcohol made him surrender to hypothermia faster.

  2. Guys if you know of anyone who has an alcohol problem get them help especially if they are your mates and you care show it by helping them this is so sad. RIP mate all the best to the family I know it's 3yrs down the track but I have only just seen this. Thank you officer you tried your best. Jeremy Downunder

  3. I'm very happy to know that some crooks are more than willing to help the police to clean up their home town by going for a night time swim in the local river to do their part to reduce crime. Very kind.

  4. If there is one thing to take away from this is that if you're going to jump in the river to evade police make sure you can swim.

  5. For a simple misdemeanor, this cup is relentless in his efforts to rape this poor man's families economic purse!?! All the while this cup is not protecting the public but is focused on getting his quota of abusive fines upon those he says he protects and serves! Let's just review where we are in today's society folks. Are we not in a police state? Can we all see how it is desperately wrong now! The police were initially instituted to be backup to We the People! Is so wrong right now!

  6. Has alcohol issues, manage to run all the way to the river without stumbling but he could not swim in a river and face it's tough currents. This guy so did not want his parents to find out he has been drinking but they eventually did anyway.

  7. he had signs of hypothermia, and was found 5 miles up stream, so most likely went into shock cuz the water was freezing.

  8. If you read the story on this it's actually really sad. The family was so gracious as well towards the officers who tried to help him and what this video doesn't show is that the officer eventually waded in after him. Really this one is a tragedy and is kind of hard to watch knowing all of that. Sorry to bring the party down, but I would hate for anyone to mistake this for one of the many times where it is good that someone died in the presence of police.

  9. Thats a win to me, no burden on the tax payers because some alcoholic dumbass wants to hurt others for his selfish needs.
