Fresno, California — On Friday, December 23, 2022, officers from the Fresno Police Department responded to a disturbance between a man and a woman at the 7-Eleven in the 2300 block of South Chestnut Avenue. A caller stated a woman was hiding inside the store from her boyfriend, now identified as 37-year-old Michael Alvarez after claiming she had been assaulted. When police arrived on scene, Alvarez was seen parked right in front of the store. Two officers approached the car and gave Alvarez repeated commands to turn off his vehicle and exit the car. A third officer positioned his patrol car behind the suspect’s vehicle.

Officials say he failed to follow the officers’ orders and abruptly put his car in reverse, backed up, and struck one of the officers as she stood next to the driver-side door. The second officer was also nearly struck by Alvarez’s vehicle and collided with the third officer’s patrol car while the officer was still seated inside. The officer told Alvarez to get out of the car. One of the officers warned Alvarez he will get shot if he didn’t stop. One of the officers, who was behind the man’s vehicle, fired multiple times and struck Alvarez once.

Alvarez also hit another vehicle that was occupied by a woman who was two months pregnant. That person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and was expected to make a full recovery. Alvarez was taken to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. Alvarez is charged with felony domestic violence, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon upon a peace officer, assault with a deadly weapon and violation of his post release community supervision. Police said Alvarez has a prior felony conviction for felony evading.

  1. Was REALLY hoping the outcome was going to different for the driver and by different outcome, I mean I wish he would have succumbed to the gunshots.

  2. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  3. Gonna be hard to justify that one. The guy was unarmed and no way could any of them officers have been run over unless they were literally a retard.

  4. In case you missed class: The First rule of living in America 1. The Social Contract-Do No Harm to Others. Simple. To the point. Hundreds of millions of Americans live by that rule. Live it and live long. ✌🏼🙃✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

  5. How the f**k was that justified cause he was driving away they shot him nobody's life was indanger there unless I'm missing something.

  6. Yeah, big smart to be doing domestic violence at a 7/11 while out on supervision for felony eluding. Double big smart to do a triple agg assault while attempting to do a second felony eluding. His judge is not going to be very happy with him this time.

  7. What was the reason for them to use deadly force? Im sure he was in fact “the guy” they were looking for i just dont understand the opening fire part. Not saying he didnt get what was coming but legally this looks sketchy.

  8. Hopefully the car hasn't been damaged that you can fix the driver on the other hand common sense either you've got it or you ain't.
