An officer Metro Police said shot at a teen who tried to run over officers with a car Monday has been identified as Scott Hinckley, 33, who has been with the department since February 2014. Hinckley is on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of the incident, police said. The episode unfolded about 11:15 p.m. in the area Bonanza Road and Nellis Boulevard when officers tried to pull over an unlicensed Honda Civic driven by 18-year-old Daniel Prichard, Capt. Shawn Anderson said.

When the car sped off, the officers did not chase it. The same officers later spotted the vehicle parked in a cul-de-sac in the area of Del Amo Drive and Sandhill Road. As police approached the car, Prichard attempted to run over the officers, prompting Hinckley to shoot and hit the car multiple times. Prichard was not hit by any of the bullets, but he was treated for minor injuries at the scene before being taken to the Clark County Detention Center. He faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving.

  1. The cop gets out of his car and just starts blasting it is absolutely stupid to shoot at cars driving away just shows lack of good judgment.

  2. He wasn’t driving at him at all. Was just trying to escape. He’d have hit him if he wanted to, the cop was stuck between his car and the suspect car so had nowhere to go. Therefore he was a sitting target and would’ve been easy to hit.

  3. lol yeah he was totally trying to "run over" the deputy. that cop was a coward looking for a reason to shoot his gun at someone and be a cowboy for a day

  4. I’m the one got shot at I was getting away from him trying go around and he took upon himself to racially profile me as a brown male to his radio before he got out to shoot at me and if you all listen I took off before he got out the car so reality he herd me getting away and only thing in his head was to gun me down and he hoped he killed me and it was going be all covered up but I made it out alive and he had think of something to cover his own ass for his mistake of missing me and the cops name was Scott Hinkley at the Las Vegas metropolitan police department and they said plea guilty or you will spend 5-15 years over a attempted assault so I lost hope to get justice on a no good dirty cop

  5. More like the cop got out of his car and put himself in harms way and then shot the kid who is trying to just simply drive away.

  6. In other countries, how would the police handle a car trying to run the over? Cause most European cops don't have guns.

  7. The cop got out of the car and put himself in the way as an excuse to shoot. There is no other fucking reason to get out of your car in this situation.

  8. As a kid I thought "wreckless" driving should be excellent driving which did not result in a wreck. I only recently learned that reck is an archaic word which means care or worry. We do say reckless in modern English but I don't thing we say "nary a reck" too often these days.

  9. How stupid does the cop have to be to confront a speeding car? For fuck sake even if the driver wanted to stop he just did not have any time to react and stop. So thanks god the driver took right and did not hit the cop or the car and noone was injured cause of every days us cops stupidity. Never get in the way of moving vehicle – you are not in the matrix it's not a movie and the car will kill you.

  10. I don't know. It looked like that was the exit, and he was trying to get the hell out of there, probably had drugs in the car or warrant's. If he was a cop killer, he would of crushed him against his own car.

  11. He was trying to run away not run over the cop. There's a huge difference between reckless evading and premeditated attempted murder.

  12. Another lying cop. How typical. Ones a trigger happy fool who puts himself in the way of a fleeting vehicle, whilst the other automatically starts lying about it.

  13. USA police are so stupid, what about all the innocent passengers or hostages. shoot first ask questions later? WTF

  14. The video clearly shows that he wasn't trying to hit the pig. But of course they're going to lie and say whatever they have to for money and to make themselves feel better about shooting at someone.

  15. too much retarded people talking shit against the cop: the criminal tried to use his car as a weapon and they dont need to have an officer dead to do something. in my country this year a 14 years old girl was run over by a crimianl trying to escape from the police, she was thrown 5 meter up and died at the scene. we need to stop waiting for deaths to do so mething, this officer did the right thing and btw the retarded in the honda civic had previous criminal record, too bad the officer missed
