The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released body camera footage of an officer involved in fatal shooting leading up to what the State Attorney’s Office ruled a justifiable police shooting.
Baker, Leah Marie 29 years old, who suffered from schizophrenia was shot and killed by police after attacking an officer who was answering an April 11 calls, first to ask to be taking to a crisis center and than about a dispute at a home 1300 Golfair Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida.
Officer E. Mechling knocks on the door of the home on 1300 Golfair Boulevard. Armed with a knife, Baker answers the door, immediately stabbing Mechling in the arm.
Officer Involved Shooting:
Officer Elizabeth A. Mechling 24 years old, 1 years experience.
Officer John C. , Nobles 46 years old, 18 years experience.
State Attorney’s Office ruled actions of officers justified

Her Mother, "continues to battle for her justice". I don't know what that means. To go from straight A student (cheer-leader) to loon with a knife is hard to figure out. Mental illness is so sad. Police will never solve these kinds of problems. Mental health workers do not seem up to the task. Outcomes like this are bound to be repeated. Double sad….

The officers testimony never mentioned the dog handler kicking the suspect in the face.
This was interesting. Glad she didn’t hurt the K9 and she got a well deserved kick. That woman would have killed someone one day. This was more than mental illness. Drug abuse played a part. RiP lady you are much better off now 😞
