Bizarre Traffic Stop: Trooper Calls Woman’s Dentist

Beginning with the trooper’s three-second flip-flop over whether the woman was free to go and ending with him making phone calls that I think I would have hung up on, this traffic stop gets filed away in my book under the heading “strange.”

What do you think?

  1. I dont like cops I was assaulted by one. And he made my husband watch. I literally have shaking fear when I see one. I will be wise and say 70% are assholes who hate the world and love giving out hell.

  2. This guy is unbelievable. I would have called 911 to see if he was a real cop. Why is her medical appointments and information any of his business.

  3. Ok. This became truly bizarre immediately after he told her she’s free to go. He then asks her, AS she’s trying to leave, if he can chat with her. WTF?!

  4. This is beyond weird. Since when is it any damn business of a police officer whether or not someone is visiting a dentist? :-0

  5. I have a live hate ration ship with New Mexico Troopers. I like the fact that they know it is not uncommon that with all the open road that a lot is open up the throttle and run above 100mph. They write a ticket and move in to the next speeder. They don’t make a big deal out of running a high speeds. The down side is if you are from out of state they will not help you at all, unless it is to arrest you. If you need help, wait in line until they absolutely have nothing to do and then it is the least effort they can put out. Ranking them against all the lower 48 states against the out states troopers From 1 to 10 I would give them a 3. They are polite if you are polite, so maybe I should give them a 4.

  6. She should’ve said no and left. He issues the warning for the stop and everything else is the officer clearly reaching. It’s this was my mother , or any women in my family I definitely would’ve seen it this was a law suit of some kind. He intimidated the heck out of her . 😡

  7. That cop had something on his mind and probably not good he maybe ripping people off . She should have went and talked with his supervisor .

  8. U know when u cross that line. This guy can't still be employed. But then again I notice these rural areas hire anybody with a pulse.

  9. This guy is creepy as hell. I don’t see any PC for this level of questioning. Lady was cooperative and gave no indications of wrongdoing.

  10. I have an issue with this cop's performance. First of all, what cop in his right mind would stop an out of state vehicle on the basis of window tint? Doesn't matter what local law is, the vehicle simply has to meet the requirements of the state it's registered in.

Second, the questions about where she's going, what she's doing, etc. I don't care if that's his idea at conversation, I'm not going to volunteer any information I don't have to. My response would have been "I'm not going to discuss my affairs with you."

Third, the arbitrary search of the vehicle. Tinted windows are not reasonable cause for a search. I would have flat told him no, I don't consent to a search, go talk to a judge if you have a problem with it.

And fourth, the "you're free to go" then suddenly "can I ask you some questions?". The point at which I'm no longer detained, I'm leaving, and I'm not going to humor his desire for conversation.

  11. There was no reason for her to even get out of her car. She should be very afraid. What was his name? I wonder what other lines he might have crossed with women.

  12. And, lest we forget, there are men who Impersonate police, and pull cars over. Some have 'arrested' women and raped/killed them.
This is how he meets women (he thinks). It sounds like he is planning to stalk her.
Many people don't like dentist appointments, and are nervous just thinking about them. But dentist appointment plus creepy cop and it gets way out of hand. He embarrassed her in front of the dentist, too.
Since WHEN does having too dark window tinting go to this level of 'investigation'?

  13. I didn’t see forsure but I think this is NM and I noticed many times they will do there stop then say your free to go wait 30 seconds and say hey can I ask you a few things and bam hit With violation of rights. But this is crazy making her call the dr asking so many personal questions seems like hipa problem also. If it was me after your free to go and he said can I ask you
Something I’d say no I’m sorry I’m free to leave right. Yes you are but I got a few questions. I’d say I understand but this is unsafe and I’m feee to leave so sorry but see ya later

  14. But all you people talking about hippa violations supported business's that violated hippa with the facemasks, right

  15. This cop is either a creeper or a rookie that doesnt belong on the PD!!!This is when u call the Police on the police ! Weirdo!😩 BIZARRE

  16. Digs right into her medical issues and everything… HIPPA doeant mean shit apparently… pry, pry, pry over and over even as he's supposedly letting her go… total piece of shit…

  17. He is so violating HIPPA I hope he got fired and she sued him. I know he was up to something, wonder if he wrote her address down to stalk her at home. This is just way to creepy for me I would have asked for a supervisor or sergeant.

  18. She was free to leave once she was given the warning citations. She was illegally detained the moment he told her she wasn't free to go when she said she needed to be going after he started inquiring about the doctor's appointment.

Not only can she sue the state for false imprisonment, but the officer probably can be criminally charged. Her lawyer should be giving the doctor a call while he's at it for medical confidentiality issues.

  19. I think he was doing investigative questioning for drug trafficking. These are strange but common tactics.

  20. "Why are you nervous ma'am?". Duh! He is a creep! I wouldn't have answered his questions! He had no right to get all up in her business!

  21. REAL WORLD POLICE! !! PLEASE TELL US THE REST OF THE STORY! Who was this officer? Thousands of people have seen this video. Surely, he didn’t get away with this behavior!

  22. This is the weirdest stop I’ve ever seen. This guy is trying to intimidate and stalk her. Questions were Totally inappropriate. I would’ve refused to answer them. This frightens me. I sure hope his superiors saw this video.

  23. Since when is having low tint illegal?

Additionally, he said she is free to go. She should say I dont have to answer these questions and you gave me the warning an told me I am free to go so I am leaving, then leave.

  24. Just goes to show you that we need to know more about our rights… I would've told him to call the drug dog….. Like he did….. I wouldn't know if I was allowed to deny that information! Im SUPER RESPECTFUL to police when they pull me over… Yes sir… No sir…( or ma'am)
