BIA – Bureau of Indian Affairs Federal Police District IV Law Enforcment Day

During Law Enforcement Day The BIA – Bureau of Indian Affairs Federal Police District IV along with multiple other local, state, and federal agencies spent the day at a local Albuquerque Target store located off of Paseo and I-25 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, District IV encompasses all Indian Country located within New Mexico, Colorado, portions of Northern Arizona and Utah, and the Ysleta Del Sur pueblo located in west Texas. The headquarters for District IV is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There are 26 federally recognized tribes which include all of the Navajo Nation, two Apache tribes, 20 Pueblos, and two Ute tribes.(Table 1) The total population of all the reservations located in District IV is approximately 264,427 which includes Indian and non-Indian residents.
