On hand for the event was APD Chief Ray Schultz, APD Deputy Chief Allen Banks, APD Deputy Chief Paul Feist, and APD Deputy Chief Beth Piaz. The Fallen Hero event is held each year to honor the fallen and the family member who they left behind.
The Albuquerque Police Department has five memorial sub stations in Albuquerque named after fallen officers, Mike King, Richard Smith, Jeff Russell, John Carrillo, Shawn McWethy, Gerald Cline, Phil Chacon. While the Bernalillo County Sheriff named their most recent sub station after Deputy Sheriff James McGrane Jr last year in a memorial dedication ceremony.
