No indication or evidence that the Sheriff’s were doing anything wrong here. Often times the police don’t want to give details about what they are really doing and instead give a cover story. This makes sense and I understand it. However, sometimes with just a few simple questions you can see what’s really going on.

No Catman, I live in Malibu and I know that we pay $5m a year for LASD Lost Hills deputies to be our police, plus LASD Metro deputies have authority to patrol wherever Metro buses and trains go and CHP has authority patrol anywhere highways go and any sworn police officers has authority anywhere they suspect the law has may be or has been broken in the state of California.

The city is within the County of Los Angeles. The sheriff does have jurisdiction regardless if that city has its own PD or not. Also, they are post certified peace officers which means they have statewide authority, meaning regardless when they are on or off duty if they observe a crime or something that doesn't' add up they can and have the right to take actions.

To correct you. I’m a loyal subscriber, I live in Lawndale. The sheriffs are now coming into several cities that have their “dedicated†ss. Their using the cover that their patrolling metro bus lines. They just signed if you will a new contract to keep metro safe. They’re making their presence felt everywhere metro goes. All about revenue if you ask me.

All CA "Peace Officers" retain "Jurisdiction" throughout the State of CA regardless if they are City or County. However, if an arrest is made or a citation is given, that department is bound by the rules of the County (Superior Court) where the citation/arrest physically took place.
He said metro bus police. Just like Octa have sheriff that is their main point of view, but I guess could stop a traffic violator as well, but I don’t think so. Since MTA is pretty much everywhere then yes you will see Sherrif’s in areas that you normally would not.

Interesting. Having worked out of Lennox for 10 years, we did not patrol into other jurisdictions. It was totally allowed by law, but was more of a cutesy thing. Metro police getting deputized brought another level to this and happened after my time. The sheriff needs to keep a careful watch on these new cowboys.
