3. We should appreciate the gentleness and care that our emergency people show on a consistent basis. The sight of the "jumper" cradling the body of a 19-year-old boy as they were hoisted through the air brings the agonizing heartwell that Michelangelo's Pieta does. Remember to keep emergency workers in your hearts: they don't have to love us all and they do. Remember this image, and remember not to put yourself in danger: you put lifeguards and firefighters and police and paramedics and rangers in danger when you do so.
