5. When staying in Buena Park years ago I could hear the gunfire to the south at night. It literally sounded like a battle was going on.

8. As a kid in the late 50's I lived on West Athens in Gardena and my father went to Compton College. We got the heck out of there in 1961 and moved to the valley. White flight from the area had already started. I can remember at 4 years old being allowed to ride my bike anywhere I could manage, no safety issues. Grandparents and cousins lived in Inglewood and Hawthorne. The valley was nicer but we were never touch by crime when we lived in Gardena.

13. Good reporting other than this is not in the city of Compton…this in an unincorporated area in Los Angeles just west of the city. It's considered Los Angeles County this is why Los Angeles County Sheriff Patrol…Los Angeles County Property. People keep reporting Compton wonder why?

17. Three hours! Damn! Poor baby and I feel for the mother. What a tragic loss. All that possibility, just gone. The same thing goes for the mothers of the other two people. Gang related deaths are young people, not eighty year old men. Even if they were in a gang, mothers don’t raise their babies to be in gangs and getting out of Compton is not possible for most. Just a night of needless death.

23. UPDATE on 3 year-old shooting
    Investigators did not name the suspect but said they are in contact with his family and his attorney to facilitate the man’s surrender, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

30. Update on shooting suspect , the police know who the shooter is and asked his family to contact him so he can surrender peacefully.
    Will he surrender or go out in a blaze of glory with the police!
