Learn how to replace the ENTIRE front suspension of your car in this two episode series. First I will show you how to remove the wheel bearing, ball joints, control arms, tie rod, strut, and axle.

The ball joint and wheel bearing has to be pressed out of the knuckle and I have a bunch of tips and tricks to make that easy. The upper control arm ball joint and tie rod can get stuck in the knuckle so I show some tricks on how to easily remove that. The rest of the suspension parts are pretty simple to remove and replace.

  1. Update: I rebuilt my front suspension and installed it myself. And Dude, I totally feel what you mean by feeling like a brand new car! I learned how to do it all thanks to your videos. Thank you!

  2. What a legend you’re!!! I wish that im your neighbor, i can learn everything from you about mechanics 🧰 with pleasure! And how am i crazy for cars as well, cleaning 🧼 and everything…. We will be best friends 😊

  3. Wow, I’m completely hooked on your videos! You explain everything with such clarity and simplicity, like a great teacher guiding a child ❤

  4. This video and its sequel are what helped me start to understand the basics of my car's suspension and eventually gave me the courage to do a front/rear strut replacement on my Camry. Some of the information had to be adapted to my specific car (mine doesn't have upper control arms and it has sway bar links that connect to the struts, for example) but it was still a huge help. After about ten hours over the course of two days, some scrapes and bruises, a trip or two to the parts store, and of course plenty of swearing, my car had four new struts and rode better than it has since I bought it. Also saved at least a thousand bucks over what my shop quoted me.

Anyway, great video and thank you for putting all this information out into the world for free.

  5. My car makes a buzzing sound and vibrates through the steering wheel when I turn right even just a tiny bit. The sound is louder the faster I'm going. Any ideas?

  6. I've done controll arms ball joints sway bar kinks inner butter tie rods and soon to be front struts and it feels amazing no more vague steering and soon no more clunk from turning left due to a bad strut mount bearing

  7. This was a particularly good video, but what I do not understand is why did not he change for a new hub instead of just replacing it with the old. all the money put in the front suspension. I really do not understand why he went cheap and did not just change the hub. Well, the video was incredibly good. Thanks Frank’s Garage…

  8. GREAT VIDEO, CHRIS!! You've helped me fix some old Toyotas, for sure!! Questions: I'm looking at the Mevotech Supreme line for tie rods and ball joints for my 4Runner ('99, 300K+). Is the brand holding up ok for you?? Also, would you replace the control arm bushings while replacing the other parts? They seem to be ok, but are original. Thx!

  9. Yeah my saturn does the same exact thing. Im gonna end up redoing the whole front end with two piston brakes snd end up swapping an LSJ with a vig turbo at some point

  10. Hey Chris I have been to 4 mechanics about having a bad jerk when going into gear and shifting into first, 2nd sound like a clunk not a jerk , 3rd and 4th are smooth 1 mechanic told me it is my transmission, another tells me it’s u joint and another tells me it’s my differential any idea what it could be? My trans shifts amazing so I honestly don’t think it’s that it’s a 94 s10

  11. Make sure you listennn to him when he says buy good parts. I cheaped out when this video came out and only 2 years later I’m having front suspension problems again. May be my CV but cheap Wheel Bearings and Hubs do not last long!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
