Lea Garofalo, 35, went to the police with details of the numerous crimes of her Mafioso husband, Carlo Cosco. In revenge, Cosco kidnapped and murdered her before dissolving her body in acid.

Maria Concetta Cacciola, 31. Another ‘Ndrangheta wife. In August 2010, she drank a bottle of acid after also speaking to the police about the crimes of the mob family she had tried, but failed, to escape. Her death remains clouded in mystery.

Then there’s Cacciola’s cousin, Giuseppina Pesce, the daughter of clan boss Salvatore Pesce. She also turned state’s witness, even helping to put some of her family members behind bars.

By rebelling against their clan, these women dealt a severe blow to organized crime. For in the ‘Ndrangheta, the largest and most feared of the Italian mafias, women never betray. Blood ties and ancestral ties still hold tight. And – as the film reveals – the actions of Lea, Maria Concetta and Giuseppina have set a dangerous precedent…..

This documentary was produced by Magneto and directed by BARBARA CONFORTI. It was first released in 2014.

  1. Good documentary but it's unacceptable for the narrator not to pronounce the word ANDRANGHETA correctly 😂the way she says it it sounds like a cute diminutive as in Italia – etta is used as vezzeggiativo as an affectionate per name (like casa ; cas – etta meaning little house, bors – etta little purse and so on) therefore it's rather disrespectful to the victims and Lea to mistakenly call, such a horrific, violent organisation 'little mafia'😂😂😢😢

  2. These mothers who will turn in their own daughters to save them selves they will meet the one true Boss both their and their families and these priests i pray for the souls of these courageous women these punks so called bosses are nothing but cowards your day will come when y'all meet the one and only one the true Boss y'all are sick individuals you will talk before the king of kings God bless these women and their mothers shall be judged harsher because we as mothers are to protect our daughters God the true Boss have mercy on your soul to have countries as of these priests who would not God if he came down himself doing this in God's name y'all are pathetic bunch of cowards

  3. i left a a man from that region… Knew nothing of the culture or the ndrangheta. Took yrs to get a court to grant the divorce. He used nohipowers to harass and stop it. Upon being granted more threats came. Not ITalian not in Italy. They are well connected around tglobe. I had to contact homeland security and only then did things calm down. I have found tracking devices on my car . the ngrangheta rule by fear. Italy this part of Italy is very run down and poor. Avoid this area and never marry one from this area.. I had no clueofanylthing about Calabria. Italy was the last EU nation to allow divorce and allow charges for dom violence.

  4. If these men are not Ndrangheta, then why then why so many happy faces and smiles ? ? Please notice the two loving and hospitable gentlemen at 7:31.

Even Don Pino Strangio, the Priest in charge of the sanctuary is under the grip of thr Calabrian mob. The Bishop stood up to them though. According to the Pope, all Ndrangheta and Cammora are excommunicated from the church. This will have lasting implications on families throughout the future of each family bloodline.

  5. The question is, when the mafia people dies…where would their souls be? Hell or heaven?

Perhaps these are the remnants of the Romans of long time ago who invaded Israel and even sentenced Jesus Christ to death??????

Drugs? Tool of the devil. Destroys lives and families.
Jesus Christ, they know what they are doing.

Lord, You will be the JUDGE for all. So sorry for these people.

    Jesus we trust in You.

  6. They don’t respect you! The fear you. That’s a big difference! They are disgusted in you! But out of fear they remain quiet. Big difference. What a disgraceful clan of people. Wow! Zero moral fiber, soulless empty vessels. Incredible

  7. Feel sorry for those women. Any sane mother would want their child to have a better future than to be a murderer and a drug dealer. What’s sad is that in that region of Italy being a violent scumbag is seen as admirable.

Mrs Richards: " I paid for a room with a view!"

Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) " That is Torquay, Madam."

Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"

Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?…"

Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"

Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."

Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."

Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

  9. Imagine if there were a criminal gang from another country that was not white. Imagine what would be said and done concerning ALL the people from that country. Italians are lucky for the presence of black people in north america, or their status would never have been promoted to white.
