Wanted Suspect Attempts to Flee from Sandy Springs Police

Sandy Springs, Georgia — On April 28, 2025, a Sandy Springs Police Department Traffic Unit officer was conducting speed enforcement along State Route 400 when a Jeep Wagoneer was observed traveling at 99 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. The vehicle was also observed recklessly passing other motorists. When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the driver, who was later identified as Demario Grooms, chose to flee, which escalated the situation. A pursuit ensued, during which Grooms drove in an emergency lane and disregarded traffic control devices. Ultimately, Grooms was apprehended and arrested without further incident.

He is facing multiple charges, including:
• Speeding (99 in a 65)
• Reckless Driving
• Felony Fleeing and Eluding
• Driving in an Emergency Lane
• Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device
• Driving while License Suspended

    ANOTHER ONE, same as the other ones… 17 percent of the U.S. population commits 70 percent of the serious crime. How can THAT continue, and be ignored by the media, the justice systems, and a deluded segment of the population here?

    With much respect to the pursuing officer and the following officers, I question the need for this high speed chase, during which multiple other vehicles and their drivers were endangered. Reading the notes, I saw no mention that this was a convicted felon, or one who had just committed a violent crime, and therefore do not feel a dangerous high speed pursuit like this was advisable. Could have gotten a tag and arrested him later.
