  1. Minimum wage does need to be higher. But $15 a hour for McDonald's works and other jobs of the same skill level is retarded.

  2. Yeah and no one would buy anything because 1: would cost too much
2: the quality and quantity wouldn't be sustainable.
Artificially raising wages based on virtue is a liberal utopian failure.

  3. Although I'm usually on the left side of things, I agree that raising minimum wage hurts small business and entry level employees. I'm curious if you have heard of Andrew Yang and his freedom dividend proposal. I completely agree with it and would love to hear your thoughts as someone that leans more right.

  4. Right lets forget that for McDonald's employee's to make 15/hr youd have to raise the big Mac 15 cents. What business would choose to be greedy and cut the hours or fire people just to keep the same insane amount of money they get instead of just slightly raising the price of the product. People with more money wont mind pay a tiny amount more for the product. Its the difference between things going smoothly and everyone has a roof and food versus everyone struggling and crime becomes more rampant. I figured a cop would be on the side of better crime statistics.

  5. That's definitely NOT how it works. My sister was given a raise to fifteen dollars an hour and kept the same hours. She was finally able to pay for medical insurance as well as food and gas. What kind of idiot wouldn't want that? Clue: The poorer people are the more likely they are to commit crimes. Using logical fallacies to fight against fair wages is both stupid and morally wrong.

  6. ……….and the stupid fucking liberals voting for this shit don't understand this……basic economics………NO FREE LUNCH!

  7. Politicians want Us to make more an hour, so they can get more taxes out of Us. Some think that politicians really care about Our welfare.

  8. Maybe its not just here in commiefornia but when the minimum goes up they play it pff as a raise…. I can name several companies guilty of this

They may give you hours but you're working 2x as much as ypu should

  9. I work minimum wage, I’m actually quite content. Yea I have a extra 8 per hour on the assignments I complete, but I’m happy and actually just bought a truck today

  10. What you seem to forget: Time is a valuable thing too. If you work part-time for the same money, you have e.g. time to raise your qualification in order to get a better job. So it's up to you, using this properly.

  11. This is a little miss leading Mike in most places the minimum wage has been increased economic activity has increased. Simply put a millionaire puts their money into a tax haven a minimum wage earner buy new jeans and sneakers, Or goes to burger king on his day off from McDonalds

  12. Next, the government will force companies to keep their employees and pay them 25/hr. Then the company either goes bankrupt or raise prices, smart.

  13. There's a lot of true in this. My local grocery store has a night manager covering quite few spots. I shop nights often and I see him also working as cashier and bringing the carts back to the store from parking lot. All that with his t-shirt and tie. This is a huge chain of grocery stores here in California.

  14. "EMERYVILLE, Calif.—The economy is booming in the Bay Area, but at Patatas Neighborhood Kitchen, located in this small city just north of Oakland, owner Marcos Quezada recently eliminated the dinner shift and laid off six of his 10 workers.
He struggled with the decision but felt he had no choice after Emeryville increased its hourly minimum wage in July from $15 to $16.30, the highest in the U.S. “I just didn’t see how I was going to survive it,” said Mr. Quezada, who opened the eatery in 2017".

  15. Lol, this is entertaining. Not an accurate depiction of the history of increases in the minimum wage but funny and a lot of people need to lighten up. This may happen in a few cases but as a whole gradual increases did not have dramatic impacts on unemployment or hours works. It is funny because I had listened to an economics podcast about this yesterday.

  16. 15$ a hour for flipping burgers? I find that offensive! I'm a certified computer tech and I didn't get paid 15$! I demand 150$ a hour with full bennies! DO IT! lol

  17. So I make the same amount , work less, which means I can work more jobs , make more money and still have more time to myself to do the things I love. Huhhhh? So this is why conservatives don't like raising the minimum wage; it helps the under privileged get ahead. Kind of like it delivers what capitalism promises. Oh Mike, your my favourite frienemy. ❤😈

  18. WHAT HAPPEN TO THAT VIDEO YOU ( MIKE ) MADE WITH YOUR NEW GRANDDAUGHTER IN YOUR ARMS.? WANTED TO SHOW MY OLD LADY & NOW I CAN'T FIND IT..??

  19. Raise the minimum and the the amount you earn will make you ineligible for Obama care now you have to pay for your insurance. all part of the "master plan".

  20. Well I would be glad to make 5k in a half day. Instead of a full time.job.

Just find other jobs and get this deal a few times…

Working less for as.much worth more btw…

  21. Hey Mike, nice hyperbole, but working fewer hours for the same pay is a good thing for employees. If businesses can't make ends meet paying their employees a livable wage, the state shouldn't have to subsidize those businesses by making up the difference between what their employees are paid and what they need to live; that business should fail. Nobody should work 40 hours a week in any job and be forced to live in abject poverty. If an employee is pulling in 500/week at 12.50/hr for 40 hrs, and their employer can only afford to pay them for 33 hours at a higher wage, that employee is free to have more time to themselves OR work a second job one day a week and make an additional 120 that they wouldn't have before at their starvation wage.

  22. Well, the idea behind raising minimum wage is that when people make more money they will spend more money, which is great for the economy.
It's not as if employers have people working less hours just because the minimum wage increases.
You can see in some countries where labour is either expensive or hard to get is that some jobs are automated, but these jobs will be automated in time, regardless of what the minimum wage is!

  23. I feel like some companies will start asking employees to become independent contractors. It's a loophole they could theoretically use to avoid the pay hike, plus they wouldn't have to offer benefits. Unless that loophole is covered and I simply am unaware of it…

  24. $5000 for half a day you say? Perfect! I'll just get 100 jobs, work 50 days a year and make $500,000. I won't even even ask for benefits lol

  25. Ok, I'll take it.
Instead of working 3 jobs for subsistence I can work 10 jobs and have time for rest and recreation.
    Cool.

  26. I remember when they raised the minimum wage from $4.35/hr to $5.25/hr. Everyone making minimum wage made more, and everything cost more so the net gain for minimum wage earners was zero. Everyone making more made what they had been, and everything cost more, so they experienced a net loss.
That's called high school economics. Unfortunately, for many minimum wage earners today, high school economics is something they don't get.
