Driver Hits 140 mph Then Blames Gas Pedal in Dangerous Police Chase

Fayetteville, Arkansas — On June 12, 2025, around 12:32 a.m., a trooper spotted a black Cadillac sedan with a defective tag light near mile marker 68 on I-49 southbound. The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Michael Dorsey, accelerated to over 140 mph in an apparent attempt to escape. Over the course of nearly 15 miles, Dorsey weaved through traffic, made abrupt U-turns, and even drove the wrong way on a divided road, forcing law enforcement to engage in two Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuvers and deploy spike strips before finally bringing the vehicle to a halt near Exit 73. Authorities say Dorsey, who claimed his gas pedal was stuck, was evaluated at a local hospital and found to have no serious injuries. A female passenger was unharmed. Investigators later discovered that the Cadillac had been reported as used without authorization. Dorsey now faces a series of felony and misdemeanor charges, including fleeing, unauthorized use of property, and reckless driving. He remains in the Washington County Jail on a $75,000 bond while awaiting his court appearance.

    WOW. that is exactly like what a 140 mph chase looks like!! Back in 1978, I was driving my 67' Camero with a 548 hp racing motor, rebuilt Vet/racing boat, (both that were wrecked) put in my car; 4 speed manual transmission, high speed State Trooper interceptor car rear end, 12" clutch in a Lakewood bell housing, 12" wide Mickey Thomson 50's rear end tires – Crager chrome mag wheels, White with Black racing stripes! 🙂 The motorcycle cop in Fayetteville NC clocked me at 90 mph in my 2nd gear on the 401 bypass – From the Bragg Blvd headed to the Murk (Murchison Road). I had to make a right turn when I saw the Murk, 200 yards ahead – and the red lights. I locked up my brakes – and started my drift – pulled the wheel to the right until my car was going sideways; down the ramp to the Murk! When the car wanted to spin: I keep the wheel to keep the car headed sideways – even thought – I was going sideways. I get to the RED lights and they turned to Green! I jumped back on 2nd gear. I was still going 70 at that time! 🙂 The motorcycle never saw where I went after that. That was the best car I ever had. I can only guess what speed I was going? Maybe 160 mph down hill to the Murk? This was the first car I bought with my own money; I was 20 years old – and had driven 100,000 mostly – half on dirt roads and hard tops. I'm just saying.
