Phoenix, Arizona — On January 27, 2024, Phoenix Police officers responded to an emergency call of an armed robbery at a pawn shop located in the area of 19th Avenue and Indian School Road. An employee for the store called 911 to report the incident and provided a description of a man and women involved. When officers got to the scene, employees pointed out the man and woman who were walking west on Indian School Road. Officers saw the man and woman described and gave verbal commands to put the gun down.

One officer used a 40 mm less-lethal launcher several times in the direction of the man. The man then approached a truck stopped in the roadway and began to hit the truck’s window with a gun attempting to get in. Officers approached the man at which time four officers fired their duty weapon stopping the man. After the shooting, the man was taken to the hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. The woman involved in the original robbery was taken into custody and later booked for felony charges. Four officers were involved in this critical incident. They are all assigned to the Mountain View Precinct and have three, four and, five years of service with the Department respectively.

  1. Since when do police meet a deadly threat with less-lethal? That kind of response, in this situation, put the public in far more danger than necessary.

  2. Phoenix has gotten so bad! For the most part, PPD has stopped being proactive. They only act if someone calls them. As a result, people smoking fentanyl on every corner now!

  3. Officer says go but man if I was the owner of that car I would be waiting for a check or something to pay for bullet damages to my vehicle 😂

  4. Is it me or are you aware that every time the elections approach there are many looking for problems with the police?😅😅😅

  5. And they say there's no mental illness in country. I think people need to be evaluated. To be in society.🤔🤔🤔🤔

  6. If your store has guns on display you had better have armed security to deal with this exact problem. If those guns get out into the wild and used in crime, your store should be liable. No excuse to let this crap walk out the door with firearms.

  7. Every gun/pawn shop I've ever been to the employees are open carrying. I'm amazed the moment he put his hands on the guns he wasn't immediately lying in a pool of his own blood.

  8. Female accomplice acting as look out in the story and strolling around. Guess she learned real quick that Bonnie and Clyde life ain't as glamorous as the movies and GTA 6 trailer makes it look.
