Imagine there’s a bank heist committed in Fargo, North Dakota. Cops pull a grainy photo of the suspect off a surveillance camera. They run that photo through AI facial recognition software, and it matches with an innocent grandmother down in Tennessee (who has never even been to North Dakota). Imagine they just run with that AI match and issue an arrest warrant, without performing an actual investigation into whether the AI is correct… Angela Lipps was arrested at her home in Tennessee, jailed and extradited to Fargo, North Dakota. She sat in jail for months, with nobody even bothering to check and see if she was the actual suspect they’re looking for (she wasn’t).

  1. It is VERY clear to me that the woman doing the crime is far younger than the grandmother they arrested. The actual suspect is at least 25 years younger than Angela Lipps. Look at the police photo and you can see her skin tone and arms and everything about her is much much younger than Angela. That photo isn't that grainy and I can clearly see the huge age difference. For the ex police chief to stand there and babble bs about her still possibly being the suspect is entirely atrocious!!!!! Lack of good police work on his part does not make a suspect on her part. The suspect is somewhere between what appears to be 30's to maybe mid 40's. Grandma Angela appears to be approximately 65 years old or thereabouts.

  2. I do have a question. Why don't they sue the CEO of the AI company. They delivered the wrongful match.
You want to stop the use of AI, go after three service providers, not the government. I suspect that the government will happily throw the CEO of the AI company under the bus.

  3. I’ll put it this way. If the Police ever show up to my house or work with a warrant for my arrest and I know it bull shit. Good luck we will have court in the street and I’ll take as many of them as I can.

  4. A.I. is a test program and we are the guinea pigs and we were told this was coming.
Gov't has no intentions for the people it's based on themselves. They show the confusion between ignorance and stupidity.
Proof positive common sense is not on their agenda

  5. I believe 93 percent of the nation’s police force are stupid and around 80-83 percent of them are criminals

  6. This chief needs to be removed he a disgrace to policing he a lazy 🤡 now the poor taxpayer has to pay for this unbelievable.😢

  7. Police Chief says: I am not responsible. Suspect was AI Software and so please sue the producer. Garbarge, your police officers screwed up. Do your damn Police work and do not jail innocent people.

  8. To better understand this go to Fargo in mid December. Then discard your coat and money and cell phone. You should be dead from the cold. The fact that this woman is alive is a miracle. The Police should be charged with attempted murder!

  9. A jury will give her $50,000,000 to deter others from trying this and all related law enforcement need to be fired. If this is allowed to stand without extreme repercussions we're all in jeopardy.

  10. How many more proves do we need to show that "LAW-ENFORCEMENT" is completely and absolutely USELESS.
These crazy stories happen much TOO OFTEN, it also shows clearly that these dumb law-breaking criminals that are "supposed" to "PROTECT and SERVE", are unable to perform even the simpelest of jobs, and only rely on AI that they obviously don't know how to use, they would be completely ready to dig-up the coffin of someone that died 10 years ago, because AI saw that person as the person that committed a crime yesterday.
IT IS CRYSTAL CLEAR THAT THE POLICE CAN NOT BE TRUSTED FOR ANYTHING, it's THEM committing most crimes !

  11. On going investigation for the next 100 years probably. They would talk about it except when they are wrong. They think the public is too stupid to see a COVER UP. I call baloney.

  12. The judiciary’s failure to properly enforce constitutional limits on government power is obvious. A baseline constitutional limit on government is that it may not arbitrarily interfere with people’s liberty—including how to worship, where to travel, or what to ingest.

  13. What’s not acceptable is thinking that government has the right to not be held accountable because this would allow partisan politics to ooze in, like sepsis in a wound, and regulate out any ideas that the elites find threatening. That’s how we’ve keep ourselves free, by exercising our constitutional rights through America’s most sacred document, the Constitution.

  14. automation bias is a well known issue that ensures that this will keep happening as long as any AI facial recognition is being used, let alone error-prone ai systems which is all we have nowadays

  15. I told it several times, and I maintain it : They are not stupid, they found the perfect tool to get the numbers up and the quotas met. Why? Because if you get those numbers you will get more funding! More money
