  1. $15 key fob $500 scan tool….almost like you might as well pay the dealer to do it regardless .

For reference he’s using a topdon Art diag 800 which cost $399.

To program a key for context, at Cadillac is $445 with fob 🥴

  2. I had to order a new key and a new case for my existing key. It cost my just over $400. The dealership wanted $1k.

  3. Not with Mercedes, we've been trying to get a second set because we lost our spare and only the dealer can do it. We've looked at forums everywhere and it seems to be inpossible for anyone other than them.

  4. Well unfortunately there's a lot of people that trust car dealerships in either sales or parts or repair I'm curious in the comments how many of y'all think that car dealerships are fair about pricing on all the above the mentioned

  5. But what about Audi? All the reading I've done says no, and no locksmiths can do it. And the dealer is ridiculous… $800 and refuses to reprogram the used key I bought for $20.

Anyone have any luck with Audi/VW?

  6. My 06 Charger RT is old enough it still uses a key with the alarm and lock controls on it.
Shouldn't be 1k to replace it but most newer cars have the fancy keys now so good there's alternatives that work and are dirt cheap. Even if they aren't super sturdy and easier to break you can have several backups and still be cheaper. 👍

  7. Used car dealer wanted to sell me Caddy with only one fob at delivery. Or $250 for another – said he had to "find one". Walked out. Called later with "one he had gotten for me".free.Took car deal. Later discovered original owner had scratched phone number on both keys. Yup, trying to juice me out of $250.

  8. Everything in Australia is way more expensive, eg, dodge ram1500 door mirror $4600 AUD thats $3020 USD.. its a fucking joke..i always buy my parts from overseas now
