LA Officers Shoot Suspect Armed With Machete

Los Angeles, California — On July 13, 2025, around 9:10 a.m., Central Patrol Division uniformed officers responded to a radio call of an ADW suspect in the area of South Figueroa Street and West Olympic Boulevard. The comments of the call indicated that a male suspect stopped his vehicle in the middle of the intersection, exited, and was swinging a sword at pedestrians. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Gurpreet Singh, standing in the intersection holding a machete. Officers gave multiple commands for Singh to drop the weapon; however, he failed to comply. Singh then returned to his vehicle, retrieved a water bottle, and threw it at the officers.

He subsequently entered his vehicle and fled southbound on Figueroa Street while waving the machete outside the driver’s side window. Officers initiated a brief vehicle pursuit during which Singh drove erratically and collided with an officer’s vehicle. A short time later, Singh stopped near Figueroa Street and 12th Street, exited his vehicle while still armed with the machete, and charged at the officers, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS). Singh was struck by gunfire and fell to the pavement. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported Singh to a local hospital for medical treatment. A machete, two feet in length, was recovered at the scene and booked as evidence. No officers or community members were injured during the incident.

    These cops are pathetic cowards. They should have jumped out the car and shot him the minute they pulled up, but instead, they allowed this clown to reach in his trunk AND to drive away!

    Sandeep still has the yeller things on his chin spoiler. Anybody who keeps those on after driving off of the lot should get the same treatment as this Durka Durka.
