Lorrie Anne Smith was found dead in her home in 1997. Without modern DNA testing, police were unable to find a suspect, and the case went cold. Thanks to advancements in genetic genealogy testing, investigators identified Jerry Lee, a corrections officer, as her killer 26 years later.
Corrections officer convicted of killing woman 26 years later
The fact that he got away with it for so long makes me wonder how many other people he killed ..
"Corrections officer convicted of killing woman 26 years later" How did he kill her 26 years later?
I Really Wish that they STOP Calling it the "JUSTICE System." smdh
None of us agree with eighteen years. That is a slap on the wrist for the heinous crime he committed 26 years ago. Lorie fought so hard to live. I'm beyond appalled.
R. I. P. Lorie Smith 🥀🪦🕯ï¸Â🪽
Usual suspects.
Prayers 🙠for all
18 years??? wtf??? If the victim was black and suspect white he would have gotten life no parole
18 years sounds like a pay off..guy will probably do 5 or 6 years
It's always them.😮
18 years? Thats a joke!!!
yeah that's absolutely wild that the judge literally gave him less time than he already spent being free after the murder….. Seems wrong.
18 years ????
Tough luck Jerry…White Man technology caught up to you!
Manslaughter? 18 years? Fucking pathetic!
NO MATTER HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE , YOUR SINS SHALL FIND YOU OUT
usual suspect of course
18 year's. Someone investigate the judge
18 years 😡😡 that POS lived 26 years free. They should have doubled that at least for his sentence 52 years if not life. The amount of manpower etc that went into this case inter solving it and they come up with 18 years who the hell comes up with this shit??? the victim and the victims family waited all that time. I can't imagine their disappointment with the outcome. Thats NOT JUSTICE THATS A JOKE. Are justice system today is laughable at best. And I wonder why a lot of people today don't trust in the system.😢😢 My heart goes out to the family.
I'm retired and I quit driving to Florida because you have to always go through that shit-hole state Georgia.
What the actual heck? Why not life? Come on Georgia 🤦ðŸÂ¾â€Â♂ï¸Â
Usual suspects
18 years? That's a joke. He should be locked up forever.
Why is 25 years considered a life sentence, it's more like 1/3 of life, 1/4 if you're lucky… or unlucky, if you have to spend it in prison.
Hey 👋
Imagine the psyche of this human who served as a correctional officer.

The BS about what they can do with DNA is an outrage.
The system is for the criminals! A disgusting joke!
C'mon ffs, 26 years hiding it=26 years prison. American judges are out of whack
For some reason, it is always great to watch stories about people who committed vicious crimes and who get caught decades later. You know after a while, they thought that they got away with it. Also to think, that they had nice cozy jobs…
There are no genetic markers that makes someone a so-called 'african-american,' because that is all sociopolitical. CaucASIAN is made up too. TRAITS are what they mean.
That must have been a very large house!
Why was this a negotiated plea deal from murder to manslaughter when the DNA links him to the crime? How is that justice for her? Did he offer up an explanation for why he committed the murder? She was nude, it sounds like it was meant to be a sexual assault, and he is only serving 18 years after 26 years of freedom? How is that fair?
If a corrections officer is a prison guard ( I'm in the UK). He won't last long inside. Other prisoners will have it in for him
18 years!?! He should have gotten life!!!
Nobody can hide from Human Discipline of Science🧬
18 years??? Noooo!!!! 30 years minimum! He took a life, what's WRONG with the JUDGE??? not fair at all.
Wait till the other prisoners learn what he did plus that he was a correction officer?
18 yrs! Give me a break
so who is CORRECT here? ðŸ¤â€
18 years??? Where's the justice?
