A man accused of drinking while driving was shot by Arizona police after he allegedly pulled a gun on officers on February 25. The Phoenix Police Department said they received a call about a “woman†appearing to be drinking a vodka bottle while driving recklessly. Officers shot the man, who they say was acting strange, after he allegedly reached for his gun during the traffic stop. The Law&Crime Network’s Sierra Gillespie has the details.

I cannot understand the amount of police videos where the officer doesn't either remove the keys from the vehicle OR just close a door so that suspects cannot get back in the car OR grab a weapon, This is a very basic common sense tactic yet I see it over and over and over and over again.

sloppy police methods, almost got themselves shot. first order is always secure the suspect.
Drunk drivers like that, will not ever change their behavior. They are a constant persistant threat to everyone around them. You can take their license, take their vehicle, and these people will still find a way to drive and go out of their way to make sure they are drunk anytime they do. Outcomes like this are the only option in a lot of alcoholic cases.
