2. I’m South African and came as a political refugee back in 1998. My family is very closely linked to the freedom fighters of that period. She was more militant than him (on par with Malcolm X vs MLK), and so white people would lie and slander her name, and required Nelson to step away from her — which he did. Netflix had a great doc called "Winnie" up about her. White South Africans weren't happy with the favorable portrayal because they viewed her stance as too militant because she was not into turning the other cheek and civil disobedience.
