I hope you have your unmanned aircraft pilots license (FAA 107), otherwise using your drone footage could be an issue. Assuming you do, I am excited to see some upcoming content where cops think they can demand your FAA license.
Master 50. It very well may be a crime to distract the pilot of an aircraft. Since a drone is regulated by Federal Aviation rules and drones have the capacity to damage or injure it is a serious endeavor to distract the pilot. You are quite correct to warn anyone approaching you of the seriousness of their interference. Looking forward to more drone action by you. I've been watching the UK auditors videos of their drone flights and find them interesting.

Yeah the second guy was seemingly polite to you but unless he genuinely wanted to help you than he lied to you, which isn’t exactly polite.
In the UK it is a crime to knowingly distract the operator of a drone. Curious to know the case in your state.
