Randy “”Rock”” Cochran knows that life in prison is not easy. He got a life sentence when he was 19. When he came to prison in Hard Time he joined a gang. Even a veteran convict needs to stay vigilant.

In the Hard Time prison, the lines between friend and foe are blurred, especially if someone is perceived as living a better life. Due to a medical emergency, Randy “”Rock”” Cochran has to be taken to hospital. After he returns to Smith State Prison, he questions the choices he made.
