Summerfield, Florida — On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, Deputy Christopher Witte arrested 33-year-old Brandy McGowan for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. At around 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Deputy Witte and Property Crimes Detective Pamela Thomas responded to the Walmart on South US Highway 441 in Summerfield, in reference to McGowan threatening customers and store employees with a brick and a knife. When Deputy Witte and Detective Thomas arrived, they located McGowan in the clothing department, wielding a pocket knife and making incoherent statements. Deputy Witte repeatedly instructed McGowan to drop the knife, but she ignored those commands.

Deputy Witte deployed his taser at McGowan, which successfully disarmed her and provided an opportunity to place her in handcuffs. Through the investigation, it was learned that McGowan entered the business wielding a brick and began threatening customers as she was walking around. She then located a pocket knife for sale and began opening the packaging with a pair of scissors from the store. Once the knife was open, she continued to threaten employees and customers until Deputy Witte and Detective Thomas arrived. After McGowan was arrested, it was discovered that she ingested approximately four grams of methamphetamine earlier in the day. She was first transported to the hospital for evaluation. Upon her release from the hospital, McGowan was transported to the Marion County Jail, where she remains.

  1. Tasers only work about 48% of the time (usually do to clothing or intoxicants) but when the Taser DOES work, it is a beautiful thing!

  2. Job well done. I hate saying this, but we all have to be watching for these agitated or demented types whenever we go out of our homes. You might think this can't happen where you live, but you're wrong.
As for the Taser intervention, it can only work when conditions allow for such. Suspect is stationary, lightly clothed, and probably not on methamphetamines.
No way of knowing how long it took for the first deputy to arrive, and everyone in that store was at risk until that point in time. Each of us has a choice to make, choose wisely.

  3. No charging zombies, no shouting banshees, steady cam, well lit, and tazer that actually works?!? What is this, April's foolery?!

  4. Officer did a fantastic job. Waited for backup before he even considered holstering his firearm and using his taser, as he should.

  5. He said to put the knife down TOO MANY TIMES…a minority would of been tazed or shot immediately. I hate the world today.

  6. instead of a police robot, you can repeat one phrase and the artificial intelligence will cope with a shot to kill.
a Russian policeman will talk and calm down and they will give him a knife
a Soviet policeman would shame a woman and she would go to the police station herself.

  7. прикольная штука,сколько вольт?

  8. Perp will keep reminding herself that she CAN fit into those tiny shorts without having to do the zip up……and cover the mess with a belt.

  9. If she was black it he wouldn’t ask so many times times to drop it. He would’ve asked once and then there would’ve been bullets
