Caught Shoplifting at Walmart: An Afternoon With Las Cruces Police Department

From the report of Las Cruces Police Officer Joshua Milks, lightly edited for clarity and brevity and coming in either part three or part four:

On May 9, 2019 I was on regular uniform patrol in the city of Las Cruces, driving a marked patrol unit, when I heard Officer Rodriguez call for assistance at the Walmart on South Valley. Officer Rodriguez had been dispatched to a shoplifting incident, and a short time later announced on the radio that he was in a foot pursuit. Just before I arrived, Officer Rodriguez stated he had a male detained at the La Quinta Inn just north of the Walmart. The lots are only divided by a ditch.

Officer Rodriguez stated that other subjects had run from him and he was only able to catch one. He asked for more units to meet him at the La Quinta to assist with his arrestee.

I arrived at the La Quinta and started driving around the parking lot looking for Officer Rodriguez. While in the process of asking Officer Rodriguez for his location, I saw a male subject wearing black shorts, black shirt and a black baseball cap throw down his backpack and start running westbound through the parking lot. I told Officer Rodriguez I had a male subject running from me and he replied the suspect was wearing all black with a black hat on.

This series presents the story of how the police got into a foot chase with the wrong guy… who ended up giving being uninvolved, but still gave the police a fake name… and was eventually arrested for that anyway. Stay tuned.

  1. Love how the criminal is smoking and joking having great old time at the station. Even the Audacity to negotiate the charges like his placing a order from Burger King. Some people man.

  2. Whats wrong with you primitive people. Shoplifting under $900 is not a crime nor is resisting arrest! Get with the modern train of thought will you! Las Cruces is on of my favorite cities. I hope La Posta is still there!

  3. If they want to shoplift they should leave New Mexico and just move to California. You can take all you want from stores here as long as it's less than $950.

  4. Fuck Walmart! They are stealing from 🇺🇸 middle class, poor ppl. Having them work for no money, no benefits.

  5. Here in Eastern KY all you will ever read about is some dipshit getting caught shoplifting at Walmart, yet despite that they still steal. It baffles the mind.

  6. Weird question, does anybody know the name of the artist or song RWP used in this video and has used for others as well? Been curious off and on for about a week now

  7. I'm kind of surprised the cop is being so candid on how exactly he figured the guy out. You see in a lot of these video's the people asking "But how did you…….???" and the cops answer with some variation of "We have our ways". They don't want the person to use that knowledge later to avoid getting caught again lol.

  8. I think if shoplifters watched this stuff they may think twice. Anyone remember the girl who left her baby to get away after she got caught shoplifting? Class act…

  9. Do you know Detective Sanchez?
    We have a patrolman Sanchez.
    No, this was a detective.
Nope. No Detective Sanchez. Maybe he gave you a fake name too. Lol.

  10. Hey I been to that Wal Mart! Not much going on in Las Cruces NM but I used to stop when we would drive from Denver to El Paso. Nice but very small town in the middle of nowhere but beutiful in its own way!
