That wasn't a PIT maneuver. He got up along side of the truck and smacked into him. A PIT maneuver strikes one corner of the rear bumper.
Does anyone know why he was being chased?
Driver was wanted for running a red light.
The chase, in excess of 100mph, put many civilian lives at risk. The chase also put many officer(s) lives at risk. The genius who instructed the lead officer to execute the 100mph PITT maneuver should be fired. The other genius who executed the 100mph PITT should also be fired, but he'll probably receive a medal and retire with a 100% medical disability pension once he's out of the hospital.
The family of the pickup truck driver should sue and be awarded a multi million dollar settlement.

Someone in an earlier post said that this was over a traffic violation. Chases like this are so dangerous that they should not be allowed unless the suspect killed someone prior to the chase, and even then, I don't think they should be used. Once you get the license plate you can see if the car is stolen and if not, you know who the owner is, and a decent detective would be able to figure out who was driving it. If the car is stolen, let the insurance company deal with it because in the end, that would be cheaper than the cost of an accident involving multiple cars, which often happens in these sorts of situations.

All of those officers should be charged with reckless endangerment and manslaughter, those cops did nothing to make the road safer.
Cops should have ended this chase after getting license plate number. That would be much safer for everyone including public
I don't know the full circumstances, whether he was mentally disabled or what but why not let him escape and pick him up later it cant have been that urgent unless he was on a killing spree. Why put his life, police lives and the lives of the public in danger.
