Bodycam video released by the Clovis Police Department shows the moments before officer Chris Caron was shot in the leg while attempting to arrest a man on a felony warrant. Officer Caron stopped a bicyclist, who identified himself as Anthony Baca, in the 900 block of Wallace Street late last month for a traffic violation.

The video continues as Baca tries to leave the scene on foot after Caron stated he was under arrest for an outstanding warrant. Caron can be seen running after the suspect and deploying his taser during the chase, which ended after a gun was fired and the officer went down. Authorities later said Caron was shot in the left thigh and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Baca was taken into custody two days later without incident and booked into the Curry County jail. He faces felony assault charges.
The Clovis Police Department said it chose to release the video to highlight the bravery of Caron and other officers, as well as the outpouring of support shown by the Clovis community.

  1. Dude was only riding a Bike, why cops had to ask so many personal questions, the Moral is :
If you get too Nosy, you will get sh0t.

  2. They sense when the cop is too nice, a bit beta and with some white guilt complex and take advantage of it. First, why he had to have a small talk about the reason they could possibly have a warrant for arrest on the suspect?

Second, he pursues him in the darkness by himself with a taser? He just asked to be abused.

  3. This is why "use a taser" is a dumb idea. It usually doesn't work effectively, and why resisting arrest and running from police can lead to very bad things quickly.

  4. Crazy thing bout it is he was so nice because he had the complexion for the protection if he was black it would have been a different angle

  5. Tasers huh?!! I am beginning to grow suspect of these tasers and manufactures that make them, their effectiveness seems to have declined in the past few years. Of the many LEO videos I've watched, more tased suspects aren't phased by it as opposed the period they first came into use by law enforcement officers. It seems like department or municipal purchasing agents are buying non US made products, because I remember the first model use knock suspects on their ass and they stayed there pissing themselves. These tasers need to be re-evaluated, whats the use of having them if it has no effects on suspects.

  6. And they want to defund the police and replace them with social workers lmfao. This has to be one of the most impossible jobs I've seen.

  7. He told him not to ride in the middle of the street and the road rule.
    THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN THAT!
There was Zero reason to start all the questions .
That would've saved him that hole in his ass.
SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES!

  8. That guy isSo stupid, a $5000 warrant he would have been out tomorrow at most two weeks. Now he is looking at 20plus years.

  9. WAIT…THE OFFICER Approach a civilian at night, without his taser or firearm drawn, or screaming get down on the ground, and obviously he wasn’t in fear for his life. This encounter is the perfect example of how racial bias, and false security can cause police to lose their life, or end up on trial for an unjustified shooting. There was a time when I was totally against defunding and retraining of law-enforcement officers, but the more police cam footage I research the more I am realizing that the anti-police community may actually be right.

  10. This is a big reason why cops need to have an ear piece especially ones who run a persons info via the radio because now he knows he has something at least wouldn’t hear the dispatcher and the cop could keep stalling saying they haven’t got back with him yet and conduct the arrest when they get there

  11. AN UPDATE TO THE CHARGES!

He is now serving a total of 34.5 years for the reasons quoted below:

"Reeb said Baca was taken to trial on four other cases which included Shooting a Police Officer, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and two drug cases. He was found guilty in all four cases and received maximum sentences."

While I personally think that attempted murder should have been added too, I also believe that going from 35 years of age to almost being 70 is enough for what his involvements were.

  12. This is Clovis so I’m not surprised. Officers in this town are about as aggressive as those in Chicago. I lived there for a year and people got killed every night and the towns like 30,000 people
