As a 68 year old man with over 20 yrs in prison probably no social security definitely no retirement I would dare say his "opportunities" were very limited. What he needed was some helping. The plug offered "help"

I’m pretty sure he’s just more comfortable in prison he’s lived there for the later half of his adult life and into his senior years he probably can’t live on the outside anymore. A lot has changed

The prison system is fucked. Who’s gonna give that man a job when he gets out of jail? Once he got out, what options did he have? If he could’ve gotten a job which provided a proper quality of life he probably would have taken it. But the job opportunities for ex cons are slim. This is why we need tp provide rehab and better job services to those forced into drug dealing, drug use, and prostitution. None of you know his life. None of you know the struggles or trauma he’s gone through. So don’t judge this man for doing what he may have had to do to live.

Charlamagne's comments sound great, but prison does not reform people. I am curious to know what kind of support system he had. Just imagine getting out of jail and having no where to go or a way to get anywhere. What employable skills does he have? It's difficult for a 69 year old with experience and an education to find a job. Sometimes we look at the exceptions, and don't see the rule.

Jail doesnt teach people ANYTHING so they will not change. They will only get worse or do more of the same
A lot of these prisoners get released with nothing to return to. No programs to help them transition, no job training, no educational opportunities, no employment, no access to housing…it's so easy to go back to what you know…what is easy…this is a hard way of life to say no to when the money is fast & no one there to help them find their way. I watch the show released on Own & have just reconnected with a friend who's been in prison for some years & he's struggling to find work. It's so hard. We have to develop some programs for convicted felons to help them transition. Not condoning the behavior but I do understand the mentality is hard to break when there's no real solutions!
