A Canton man is recovering in the hospital after a traffic stop. Ronald Wagner II was pulled over Sunday by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper for not having a front license plate. Wagner refused to get out of his vehicle, so the trooper called the Canton Police Department for help. The officers brought a K-9, who bit down on Wagner, getting him out of the car. Wagner argues it’s within his rights to stay in his car. “I’m staying inside my vehicle, where my rights are protected by the Fourth Amendment,” Wagner argued. When asked why he didn’t comply with officers. He responded, “Once you comply, you give up your rights. I didn’t want to give up my rights, so I did not consent.” Wagner has been in the hospital since the incident on Sunday. He has undergone two surgeries, but was expected to be released Tuesday night. He says he is considering a lawsuit. Canton police say they incident is under review.

  2. There must be a rule: if the subject ever says something like "I know my rights" or "I'm a lawyer", a K9 can be released immediately without any warning.

    And if after that the subject says: "I've been lawful guys", then another K9 can be released again

  5. A constitutionalist? 🤣🤣🤣. This guy has no idea what he is talking about. He has it all ass backwards. The cops are 100% right. The cop is also right that is not a 2015 Toyota. What's the easiest way without the dog getting hurt? That was music to my ears. I have to admit these cops did everything right. There was absolutely nothing unlawful about this. The injuries are all on him.

Funny how they always stop their cars though the feel they are under no obligation to cooperate. This never ends well and no one ever feels bad for anyone but the cops. and they normally end up in the brig of their pirate ship or in the medical cargo ship…

    In the U.K. there is a law against wasting police time.

  37. 1. No front plate is breaking the law.
    2. He is being detained at that point because of it.
    3. At that point even without the stop and identify law you will have to identify yourself.
    And this idiot thinks he can sue the department? Don't play games when you are not even sure about what law they are executing, and not understanding what law you have broken.
