Prison SWAT vs Shank Wielding Hostage Taker

Back in 2006, the Judge should have listened to Timothy Monk when he said “I shall return.” Those words were spoken at his sentencing him to 28 more years of his already 97 year sentence for a litany of violent crimes, most recently for kidnapping and sexual assault of a female prison employee.

This time, Monk took a library staff member hostage inside the library with a prison made knife. The response team was able to cause Monk some issues with gas and ultimately entered after a concussion device was deployed and the hostage was freed unharmed in a pretty tense situation.

So glad tax dollars keep this guy around *eyeroll.

  1. Mike. Your audience are bloodthirsty idiots.
I am pleased that most people who have authority do not think like they do.
Read some of these comments and think. Would you be fine leaving your son in the care of these people (your subscribers) if he was having problems.
OK the guy is clearly disturbed. Fortunately we don't live in a world where disturbed people are brutally executed by animals as a punishment. Well outside the most brutal parts of the world under ISIS control, that you would consider uncivilised hell holes.

  2. No doubt he got one hell of a beatdown by SORT and the other officers in ad sec for his violence toward another staff member. In prison staff tend to take care of their own, even if it means retribution as a deterrent to future behavior like this.

  3. A lot of people in the comments section seem focused on conventional tactics like using a sniper. Given the fortress like architecture of prisons using a sniper is not always the best option or even an option at all. Unless you have been inside a prison in person, you wouldn't understand what I mean.

  4. Do you think they had enough guys in the stack? I know they need to show overwhelming force, but with that many men crowded into that tiny corner, I'm glad no one got hurt by "friendly fire."

  5. So he sexually assaults a female employee of the jail, and takes some hostage with a knife, he could've killed him by the way, and this monster is still being kept alive? Why?

  6. I can't imagine what he thought he would accomplish. But no staff member should be left unguarded with an inmate. That's just asking for trouble.
