On Saturday, September 29, 2018, MCSO K-9 Deputy Matthew Hooper and his K-9 partner “Rambo” responded to 585 NW 57th Avenue in reference to locating a man wanted for committing an armed robbery in the city of Ocala, Florida. On June 2, 2018 defendant Andre Baker (DOB: 12/31/1988) robbed a couple of $40.00 and a .22 caliber handgun at gunpoint, and after their investigation, the Ocala Police Department issued a warrant for his arrest. Baker has fled from law enforcement before…He even told witnesses that he would flee from law enforcement by running into the woods. Knowing this, Deputy Hooper and Rambo took a position in the woods behind the house Baker was staying in.

When two other deputies went to the front door of the home to ask Baker to come out of the house, Baker ran out the back door, where Deputy Hooper and Rambo were waiting. Baker ignored K-9 warnings and Deputy Hooper deployed Rambo to apprehend the suspect. Rambo jumped over three fences and quickly captured Baker after a short pursuit. Baker was treated for minor injuries that he sustained by Rambo’s bite, and he was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail. Baker’s been charged with Resisting without Violence for this incident, and OPD’s warrants for Robbery with a Firearm, Grand Theft of a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon were successfully served.

  1. First time I’ve ever seen a canine partner give him the praise they deserve after an apprehension. This officer values his partner and I’m sure it goes both ways.

  2. That has to be the nicest cop. That dudes an idiot. He told him in the most polite and calm way he was gonna get bit. and guess what happened. Don't mistake kindness for weakness lmfao

  3. Great thing about a dog cop is you can use excessive force – biting even after the perp is cuffed, and no one can say anything to you.
