You asserting your rights had nothing to do with the cop letting you go dumbass. He just didn't smell anything on your breath. If you smelled like a brewery I bet you wouldn't have got through.
Or it was ridiculously obvious to the cop that the driver was going out of his way to make a statement and wasn't intoxicated. Move along and get your giant camera out of my face, thanks.

Nice. It sucks that they require you to verbally invoke you’re right, trying to claim that silence could signify someone with mental issues or whatever. This is the way to do it though.

I don't think you would get the same reaction with a hidden camera.
This is not a fair test, they obviously know you and Tom Zebra by now, and even if they didn't, the officer spotting Tom holding a camera quickly realizes what's going on
