I have lived in Torrance for 18 years and witnessed how the police apply bicycle laws differently for different people.   Most people in Torrance never have to worry about getting stopped and ticketed for bike laws because the police only stop and ticket certain people.   As Officer Cho stated, since I am filming him he wont give me the "courtesy" of being able to violate bike laws in the city.  However, I have told him and all other Torrance police that anytime they want to cite me for riding on the sidewalk they can.

  11. You had a really dumb and selfish argument. You talk about your safety as a cyclist riding on the road and on cycle lanes so you want to ride on the sidewalk but what about the safety of pedestrians?
    If you don't think bikes causes accidents on sidewalks then you're kidding yourself and If you're that worried about your safety cycling then walk rather than putting other pedestrians at risk.

  13. Turning off your head light like that is stupid he needs to go back to motor bike classes and take a safety corse.. If a driver hit him on the street (say me or you) because we could not see this servent clown, you can bet we would be facing charges even though he was in the wrong.. just like when they open fire on us saying it was justifiable! They would just It was dark and it looks like he had a gun so we put 20 rounds in him..You could bet we would be a cop killer and it would not be justifiable if the officer lost his life for riding with no lights. but he's the law he can do what he wants or they would just say he was doing his job..

  32. The inconsistency between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law, for bicyclists on the sidewalk, is gargantuan. It's almost like cops are singling out the poorest people, invading their privacy and citing meaningless violations to fund their padded salaries – in calculation that, "if a guy doesn't prefer an automobile over a bicycle, they don't know how to properly represent/defend themselves."

  35. you cant ride your bike on the side walk BUT we need more tax payer money to fix side walks. no laws should be passed by city county state or federal unless it goes to public vote.
