DeFuniak Springs, Walton County, Florida — On May 1, 2019, Walton County Deputy David Sanders was dispatched to a call of an aggravated battery which had occurred at 4156 State Highway 20 East, in Freeport, Florida. Deputy Sanders made contact with the suspect, Travis Leon Hayes, of Freeport, Florida. Hayes was armed with a knife and refused lawful commands to drop the knife. Hayes advanced on Deputy Sanders, threatening him with the knife and telling him to shoot him. Deputy Sanders shot Hayes several times as Hayes approached him. Hayes died as a result of his wounds.

Bill Eddins, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit, announced today that a review of a Walton County Deputy officer-related shooting death has been determined to be a justifiable use of deadly force.

The officer tried the taser but in many cases it just doesn't work on all people and in all situations and if the officer or anyone else is in grave danger and in fear of bodily harm or death lethal force is not only justified but unfortunately necessary. Now the demokkkrat politicians say the police shouldn't have guns anymore becouse they kill people. Perhaps those polictical geniuses should go on these calls as counselors with some cake and icecream.

  7. The guy was clearly “off his meds” sad for the officer. This is what happens when you close all the mental hospitals. The really seriously ill are essentially out on the streets.

  8. There are so many videos of officers using the yellow toy without success, leaving the officer with a pretty yellow thing in his hands and having to drop it and use a real gun. Ah, science.

  14. Tasers should drop people down: go deeper into the body to have contact with more and thicker nerves, higher voltage, less amperage

  16. Weird how these people always seem overcome by a sudden sense of mental clarity once hit with a couple of rounds.

  21. The thing that really throws me for a loop is when these morons act surprised that they were shot. WTF did these idiots THINK was going to happen?
