On Tuesday, February 11, 2020, just before 11 p.m., Deputy First Class Hobbs stopped a Dodge Challenger for traveling 126 miles per hour on Highway 400 North Bound.
During an impaired driver investigation, the driver, identified as 27-year-old Darrochino Cox of Atlanta, fled on foot behind Academy Sports located at The Collections at Forsyth.

As DFC Hobbs pursued, a white Lexus pulled into the area and attempted to pick up Cox but was unsuccessful and sped off striking the side of the building as it left.

Cox continued to flee on foot, back over the off-ramp and into the wood line between Highway 400 NB and the ramp.
Moments later he was apprehended.
During the search of Cox’s vehicle, a felony amount of marijuana was located.

Darrochino Cox was charged with Reckless Driving, Speeding, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Driving Under the Influence, Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officer, Failure to Maintain Lane and Driving with an expired license.

He is currently in the Forsyth County Jail being held on a $37,350 bond.
