I have an uncommon name that more than 99% of the people I meet can't spell (or, are too lazy to attempt). I also have an accent that can make it difficult for some people to understand me. When my name is demanded, under threat of arrest, If I speak plainly, say my name loudly enough to be heard and at a reasonable cadence, when the cop asks, "How do you spell that?", am I required to give the spelling? Anyone know?
